Old Haunts

I decided to start a new topic that can be used to discuss and remember old hunt attractions form Cedar Points past. I have always loved haunted attractions but never went to Cedar Points until 2014 and I have been trying to learn a lot more about the old haunted attractions but have not had any luck.

Zombie high school location used to be 'club blood' and 'lair of the vampires. 'Fear Faire'(medieval) was in the public picnic/tables area next to Raptor. 'The Fright Zone' was in/on western trail. 'Terror Island'(pirates) was where the Dinasours are. 'CarnEvil' was in the stadium midway between the stadium and Planet Snoopy and extended to almost the Pagoda store.

Title of the thread is "Old Haunts". All I can think of is that crazy girlfriend from 1981ish....

The western trail 'Fright Zone' was very good, they had a 'screamster' in the alcove(by the 'mining company') that would come out screaming. My favorite character of all the past and present screamsters.

The old Carnevil site was large and gave the screamsters the opportunity to run and chase. Also many hiding places for them under the stadium overhangs.

I really liked Carnevil in Camp Snoopy... especially in '12-'13.

Plenty of Screamsters that all did a great job being all things terrifying.

In '13 I remember the downpours forming "Lake Carnevil". It was like three feet deep and people just totally missed it once the rain stopped when it looked like dark concrete. Sploosh!

Before "lair of the vampire" that house was "toxic tunnel of terror." Never went into that house but I've seen some photos on the web. Inside of Disaster Transport was "Happy Jacks Toy Factory" (Easily my favorite house) but before that it was "pharaoh's secret" and before that it was "Cedar Point Cemetery"

I also remember when the midway screen was still up old horror movies would play all night long.

Does anyone know of a good site to see old photos/videos of Halloweekends? Point Pixels has some and coasterbob62 has some old videos. Any others?

A pretty good synopsis of the retired haunts and attractions for Halloweekends can be found here :

I've been going to Halloweekends since the early 2000s, and they have really enhanced the event as it's become more and more popular. I remember my first few trips there was one scare zone (The original Fright Zone on the Frontier Trail) and a few haunted houses. Crowds were so sparse that you could buy a Friday night Starlight admission for about $25, and they had BOGO coupons you could print off the website - so Friday night admission was effectively around 13 bucks. How times have changed....

I miss those Fridays when you got to go through haunted houses on the way between rides as like a little bonus.

Maverick since '99

Those old Friday Halloweekends nights were awesome! There were the 3 haunted houses (DT Buidling, Toxic Tunnel, and the one back by the Wave Swinger.) and then the Frontier Trail one and that was it. You could do all the haunted stuff and every roller coaster in the park easily in one night because the park was usually so empty.

There is so much incorrect or missing information on that article that it is painful to read.

"The Screamsters were introduced in 2005, with 70 staff." so nothing was staffed before 2005? Wow.. I must have a pretty vivid imagination. Also, apparently, the Fright Zone never existed.

Must be the old age setting in. They say the mind is the first thing to go.

Happy jacks used to have the dolls that peed on you as you left.

I saw early video of the train having decorations along the route and in boneville along with actors. I would love to see that come back.

Was it club blood that had the spinning tunnel? One of them did, it was a fun little section.

Friday’s were always the best and still are compared to Saturday. Sunday’s are better now that they open the indoor houses.

First ride; Magnum 1994

Club Blood/Toxic Tunnel of Terror had the spinning tunnel. My wife would almost fall over the railing because it was so disorienting. Oddly enough those are the only two indoor haunts I’ve ever been through since my wife won’t go through now that we have a kid. Plus the lines are pretty ridiculous. We enjoy the outdoor scare zones now.
