Driving all this way for nothing?

Im Driving up from south Florida, Ft. Lauderdale. I'm curious if anyone else on this board has driven a bunch of miles to visit Cedar Point. Im worried that Two friends and I may be let down going all this way. We will only have two days there as well, with a third maybe for the Six Flags Park up there. I guess my question is, will driving over 1500 miles be worth it? Oh, and does anyone know any cheap hotels around Cedar Point, or around Sandusky? Looking for something in the 50 dollar range. Need a good cheap hotel.

I think you will have a great time there so you shouldnt worry about being disappointed and the Travelodge is a pretty good hotel for the price

You won't be disappointed. I think that Travelodge or Best Western are good hotels...you could probably look for some threads with the search function.

I'm in Jacksonville, Florida, and believe me, you'll have a great time - the trip won't be for nothing. If you have the time, you can call 1-800-BEST-FUN (isn't that right, guys?) to get an area travel guide that will have information about the park and other local attractions, and lots of info for hotels, even some discounts. It might take a couple weeks to get though, so be careful of that if you're leaving soon. When you are getting close, you'll find hotels in abundance - for cheaper ones, stay a few miles away (5-15) rather than right next to the park.

Gotta agree with Jeff Spartan on the hotel...Cleveland Rd. Econolodge is a good deal.

Yes, the drive is worth it. CP isn't called "America's Roller Coast" for nothing! One ride on Millennium Force will make you a believer. It is quite a change from the "theme parks" in Florida - not much theming, but very high in substance (lots and lots of coasters and other rides, plus the great setting). You'll need both of those days to take it all in - come early, stay late, get ready for coaster nirvana!

...if fact, you may want to stay at Cedar Point for 3 days instead of going to SFWoA...but that's your call. I've heard several people upset with their experience there...as in rude employees, terrible capacity on coasters, and slow food service.

I would like to thank everyone for their info...but sadly it doesn't look like I will be able to make it to Cedar Point afterall. I found out from someone, that Ohio hotels do not allow anyone under the age of 21 to rent rooms. No one in my party is over the age of 19. The only way we would be able to go, is if this law is untrue and anyone knows of a hotel that does allow us to stay. Once again, if this is my last post, I would like to thank EVERYONE for their info on this site. Perhaps I will be able to go at a latter time, therefore returning to the site for more info. But until then so long unless anyone has any uplifting info.

It isn't an Ohio law. It is, however, a preference among most hotels in Sandusky. Keep looking around, you should find something...

The pickiest hotels when it comes to age is the cedar point hotels. Most of the other ones don't really say anything about it. I took my girlfriend(who is 19)last year and we stayed at the sleep inn and the clarion inn and nobody said anything. As a matter of fact they gave us the aaa discount and never asked for my card either.

Hey bro, get a room at the Best Western on Cleveland Rd. Im 19 and I got a room on multiple occasions with no problems. If they even ask you if youre under 21 you just have to pay a $25 deposit and if you dont act like a retard or destroy the room you get that back. So I would do that if I was you because you CAN get a room there.

Oh, you don't know how happy I am to hear this now. Just when all hope was lost,(we were even planning a replacement trip to Orlando already) this is surely great news. Sadly, because of the set-back, I may have lost one of my traveling companions. Nevertheless, My friend and I may still be traveling. I hope I can find some kind of replacement. But thanks. Are there any other hotels that anybody knows of? If so please TELL ME! Now if there was a rental car place that rents at 18.. I'll be a very happy man!!

Where exactly is the best western on Cleveland Rd.? Is it even near Cedar Point?

Does anyone know of hotels that rent to under 21 that are around 50 -70 dollars a night?

The Best Western is real close to CP. Its only a few mins away.

I just turned 21, and I've been getting rooms around CP since I've been 18. You shouldn't have a problem. I recommend the Ramada.

Last year my brother was only 19, and he got a room at Roadway Inn...they didn't ask his age and he got a room for like $60 or less...

got to www.sanduskyhotels.com to check some of the local hotels, pricing, distance from the point, etc.

The cheapest Motel I know of is the Rodeway Inn. It's located on the corner of Rt 250 and Perkins Ave. next to the BP gas station. It's nothing fancy at all but they do have a pool! As long as you have a bed to sleep in!
