Cold Weather @CP

So who is going to be at the park this saturday? I was wondering if they close any rides due to low temps? I know they will due to rain and high winds, but wasn't sure about lower temps since the high is only about 50.

Thanks!

That is plenty warm. Rode Raptor several years ago when the thermometer on the old entrance gate area said 36.

Thanks for the reply!

I believe that the industry standard for wooden coasters is about 33 degrees and B&Ms are about 30 and Intamins are about 32. I highly doubt any would be down.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Been when it was in the 30s with sleet and everything was running. Not sure about Gatekeeper because it wasnt built at that time. Ill be there Saturday with my huge coat and a smile!

I've visited with temps in the 30s in the past, and don't remember seeing anything shut down due to the cold. The bigger issue is the frozen face, which to me is totally worth it. We're leaving Baltimore for Sandusky around 3 tomorrow morning- I've got a nice, wide selection of jackets, sweaters and thermals to choose from all packed and ready!

I mean, I could've only packed as many as I'd need for three days. But, ya know, the whole "woman" thing..

In October on Friday and Saturday late evenings, I remember many 'frigid' waits and rides on MF,Maverick, and TTD. It was warmer at the top and going over on TTD than it was lower and on the platform.

It doesn't look like it's going to be any colder this weekend than closing day last season. I don't remember anything being down for weather. I'm probably going this evening.

I was at The Park last year on Nov. 2nd. 2014. The Lowest Temp was 30 Degrees. I am going tonight, and the Cold Temps do not bother me at all. It is just the WIND, because some Rides will be Closed. The coldest Temp. will be 30 Degrees at 12:00am.

I was in line for gatekeeper last year, and it was a pretty cold day. As we just sat in the train, rain started to pour. Regardless, they still sent us up for the ride and it was miserable. Everyone was left gold and drenched. The rain/sleet mix was so painful... Anyways I guess I'm just saying even when it's cold and sleeting they still sent me up

It was pretty cold Friday which is technically yesterday now. Only big rides down were Dragster and Raptor. I'm going to guess it was a wind issue.

Maybe it wasn't bad enough at Cedar Point, but closing weekend at Kings Island saw Banshee shut down due to the cold on Friday evening. I should know - we just got there and were approaching the entrance when they shut down. By the time we got over to Diamondback, the crew had already packed up and gone home. :(

That's the first time I've seen a park admit defeat before. Last night, TTD kept going down but they were still trying to reopen around midnight.
