Vandalism!

Vandalism is one of the only negative things about Cedar Point. While waiting for the front of MF we noticed two kids, about 10-12 years of age etching their initials on the wall of the station. They weren’t noticed by any ride opps, and continued until the line moved. As I got closer to the wall, I noticed more engraving was done in the same spot. Even though MF isn’t mine, I still wasn’t pleased with this work. There is tons of this useless crap all over the park from gum trees to the smoking in the queues. It all adds up, the more vandalism done, the more guest aren’t pleased with the cleanse ness with the park, the less they’ll visit, which wont give us the extra element in the next ride. Cedar Point does their best to keep the park, but we can help by asking the people to stop.

Actually I haven't noticed vandalism nearly as much this year as in past years. Less gum than ever, and not nearly as many carvings. Not much smoking either!

BTW Alex, I have been laughing at STEUK'S for years! Gotta love the exit for US 6, no better way to go from the West!

Last year, there was some guy etched "I stood here for 3 hours in the rain" on the railing close to the station. I thought it was funny as hell. I know it's wrong, and I'd never do it, but this was just hilarious.

The wall(s) leading up to the station in the Mine Ride queve are the only thing I ever really noticed. Well, that, and all the gum by the Raptor station.

Cedar Point is generally VERY good with vandalism, especailly compared to a certain neighbor....

I've particularly noticed the "gum tree" next to the Mantis stairs, and all the junk that gets thrown in the lagoons there. While what we notice is definately unfortunate, I agree that CP does do a very good job at keeping it to a minimum. Unfortunately, many people just don't respect that it ISN'T theirs. And the employees do try to put a stop to it, when they have the chance to notice!

I really hate to get off subject...But Steuks was sold and is going to be turned into some large travel plaza, eventually with a hotel and maybe a Cracker Barrel.

Does anybody remember "the last mile" of the Mean Streak line before the surrounding wood was painted black? Opening weekend in '91, only one train (green) had been state approved, and so was the only one running for that whole weekend (at least..I was there Sat.,Sun.,& Mon.) I don't think it takes much to imagine how long that line was, being a new coaster's opening weekend and only ONE train going on 3-minute trips, not counting loading/unloading. By the time I made it up the "mile" and into the station, I'll bet every single board within reach had something on it. Didn't take the park too long to start the paintjobs, and now every time I see it, I'm reminded of that ghastly four hour wait.

For those that visited Disaster Transport every year, remember the infamous GUM WALL before the staircase leading to the loading platform? There was so much gum on that wall I wonder how they ever got it all off.

The Disaster gum wall is there every year, and WOW does it take a LOT of that orange cleaner to get it off! They aren't kidding when they say you should use it in a well-ventilated area! ;)

You think CP has it bad try Disneyland in CA. For Grad Nite last week someone kicked a huge hole in one of the walls of the Space Mountain queue in addition to using chalk to put grafitti along the entire length of the line. Also they busted open one of those fastpass boxes leaving tickets everywhere.

One interesting thing heard while waiting in line for Indiana Jones was "Smoking is prohibited in all of Disneyland tonight! Anyone caught smoking while in line while be SHOT on site!"

I hear Disneyland has a lot of problems with Grad Nite...WDW probably doesn't get as many because it's a big resort and it'd be a lot more trouble than it's worth to get a parking space then take the ferry or monorail all the way over to Magic Kingdom just to paint some grafitti or something

If you see people defacing your park then make a scene out of them..I do..let the park know loud and clear and embarass the culprit!

It's of grave importance that CP cleans up vandalism and litter for that matter. Lead by example. If people see gum stuck on the wall, then they will stick gum on the wall.

Another reason why CP has low vandalism is the fact that the lines keep moving. If the lines are moving then Vandals don't have time to deface the park.

If gum sticking, name etching, and destruction of scenery is vandalism, isn't it a FELONY?
