Years with a season pass

When we bought our season passes earlier this year, I noticed an interesting question on the form: "How many years have you been a season pass holder?" (or something to that effect).

I wonder what some of the answers were from people on this site. For me, this is season #18, with my first pass in 1984. Maybe some of the old timers can help me here, but I seem to recall 1984 as being the first year of the individual season pass? Or maybe the first year they marketed it with a low price? And wasn't there a 'family pass' at one time?

Gemini, if I remember correctly, on the movie at Town Hall Museum shows a couple who has gotten passes since they have been available, and they had quite a few. I thought that they had passes from the 60s. I've only seen the movie once, and could very well be wrong.

I remember that as well ... but if memory serves me correct, 1984 was the first year of "something" Maybe it was the lower price. I know that there was a reason we got passes that year, but never had before. Maybe I'm just imagining things.

Lets see, this would be season #4 as a season passholder. But the real interesting number is that this is season #17 at CP for me (and I'm only 19 years old!)

Hey Walt, I am sure passes were available before 1984. I do believe you are correct in the cost being dropped drastically for the 1984 season. I think the 1984 pass was around $40. In 1983 I think the pass was around $80.

and a side note to Mantomatic...Pass #13, plus 10 years employee ID/Family pass...Season #39:)and I am ONLY 41:) *** This post was edited by Old Timer Tim on 6/11/2001. ***

I like to brag that I've been going longer than I've been alive. I claim my first "ride" as the Giant Wheel in 1972, when my mother rode while pregnant with me :)

From the early 70's until 1984, our tradition was always to go 3 times each season. Now, entering my 27th year as a Pointer - 3 just wouldn't seem like enough :)

My parents used to take me there back in the early 70's. I went on and off during the 80's and 90's. I now have kids old enough to ride so this is season pass year #2. That is pathetic. Anyone with less than .... five years of passes must go pay homage to the lemon chill guy...

Passes were available before 1984, I've had one since about 1979 or 1980. I think 1984 was the year of the big price drop, it came down to roughly the cost of three admission tickets.

3rd year, 99 was my first. I have been going once or twice every year almost since I was born. A couple years I went three time's (89 I know for sure), mostly because of free and discounted tickets from my mothers work.

My first season pass was in '99 and this is my third consecutive year with a pass. Of course, there will be many, many more.
