Travelodge in Sandusky?

We'll be staying at the Breakers June 16-19, but I've decided to drive all the way to Sandusky from Harrisburg on Friday night, June 15. Decided to cheap out and got the Travelodge (Rt. 2 and 250) for $56.56 (tax included).

Nationally, Travelodge tends to run the gamut from fleabag to clean and comfortable. I'd imagine Sandusky might be better than average, but would feel better if anyone who has actually stayed there could give me some feedback...?

My husband and I stayed there over opening weekend this season. We were quite impressed. I had absolutely no complaints. It's clean, the workers were friendly, and we enjoyed our very brief time there. After all, as long as the room is decent, you're there for the park, right? You should be fine at the Travelodge!

Its very respectable Duane...may I suggest too going to their webpage and doing the survey and getting a 5.00 off coupon from Huggie Bear :)

See if you can get a room in the "Executive Building"--it is much nicer than the regular rooms. Also, ask for the AAA discount. They didn't even ask to see my AAA card so you might as well try it ;)

The price that I got WAS the AAA discount (and I am a member). Guess I'll have to track down this webpage and save another five bucks. That's a beer at TGIF!

Hey guys, I'm back!

There is a Comfort Inn in the same area. It is quite nice and for about the same price they offer indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub and breakfast in the morning included in the room price. Well worth it! We have spent a night there on our way to Hotel Breakers for the last three years and no complaints.

I'll present it at check-in and see what happens, but the coupon specifically reads "$5.00 off the rack rate". Since I'm already getting the AAA discount, it may not apply.

But hey, it's worth a shot!

Thanks to catherine here and on CB and now DBCahill I looked into this Travelodge thing. I always stay a hotel close to Travelodge and last night called Travelodge for their rates for Monday (Gemini 100 extravaganza) night. I already had a reservation at my regular hotel for 59.99. Travelodge quoted me $49.99. So I called my hotel and told them what TL quoted me and asked her if I should cancel my reservation with them or if they would meet the TL price. The clerk remembered me (Im known as the Raptor lady there)
and said she'd match it. Cool deal.
So I saved $10.00 :)
I dont know how willing other hotel/motels will be to do this, I am sure being a known regular at mine helped but all they can say is no!!
