Weather on June 1st

Have a group of 14 coming up on June 1st for a 1 day visit. Weather currently looks likes it is going to be AWFUL that day (go figure). Wondering if you forecasts up there call for rain almost daily due to the lake (much like Florida) and how often the forecast is not right. Really will be disappointed to come all the way up and have everything closed on us.

Thanks!

There is absolutely no way to know what your weather will be until about 24 hours before your trip -- even then it might change over night --

You can not base any trip on a weather report 5 days before your trip

Most of the time it may lok like it is about to down poor and never does. I agree that there is no way to be certain until the night before though.

The forecast does not look that bad:
Breezy and warm with periods of sun; a couple of showers and a thunderstorm in the afternoon, high 82.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

That's horrible.

SoccerTodd forgot to mention he's a polar bear and his friends are Arctic penguins.

Generally, the weather is actually much better than the forecast appears. My last trip, it said thunderstorms both days and there ended up not being a single cloud in the sky. I'm going on Wednesday, and right now the forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms - or, in other words, a perfect time to go!

Which is exactly what it did yesterday ... I monitored the weather for at least a week straight for my trip to CP and the forecast never changed once; it stayed at partly cloudy, high in the upper 60's, winds around 9mph and only a 10% chance of rain.

The local news Sunday night stated the same and went on to say that it was going to warm up. If that wasn't enough, when I got up that next morning, I called the park and got the scoop right from the CP hotline: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60's ...

Well let's just say that it didn't quite work out like that. It wound up being a miserable, overcast, cold, windy and rainy day, that over-all SUCKED !

I submit that ALL of these meteorologist clowns should have their asses fired !! lol

My dad currently believes the same thing, only instead of a crappy day at CP, he wound up with pouring rain we weren't supposed to get while his house was mostly without a roof. Ohio weather will often times do the exact opposite of what's predicted, even if it's only a few hours from when the forecast was made.

The great thing about an iffy forecast is that it drives people away so if the weather clears up for you at any point during the day it'll be a breeze to get on a lot of rides!

Except if it is a breeze - everything will be down for wind ;-)

Not looking promising at all. Expecting a wash out at this point.

Still to early to tell. We were to get bad storms here in the Youngstown area (2 hours south east of the park) the last few days and we have seen a couple hours of light rain total for the day. Not a big storm all at once. As

Do any coasters run in the rain?

Simple answer: yes.

There is a page on the website, I believe under the FAQ page that has a list of all the rides open/closed for rain.

Anyone else heading up on June 1st? Forecast keeps getting worse from what it looks like. Figures the one wash out of the month occurs the day we have a group of 14 coming up.

Current National Weather Service forecast for Saturday:

"A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."

There's nothing there that would have me nervous 48 hours out.

It would have to be a really really light all-day rain for the day to be a "washout" with only .25-.5 of an inch of rain.

Anyone who lives up near the park care to share what the outlook is for Saturday when they are discussing it on your local news?

There is no local tv news in Sandusky, its either out of Cleveland or Toledo, both about an hour away. You can look that up on your own and see what they are saying. I'm just southeast of Toledo and they are calling for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Don't worry so much about the weather and just go and have a great time.
