I randomly came across this tweet from 6 hours ago:

I got an email today that MTV wants to make a reality show about the park operators at cedar point this summer & asked if I'd participate

I am not really a fan of most reality shows, but as someone who loves anything and everything Cedar Point, I'd watch it. Would you? (assuming it's legit)

I highly doubt that Cedar Point would ever allow it.

Why would MTV do this reality tv show, I thought they showed Music Videos, and stuff like that.

When was the last time you watched MTV?

However, I also doubt that Cedar would allow it, unless they (CP) had total control.

Mtv hasn't really played music videos in over 10 years, it's pretty much all reality shows now(16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom, Jersey Shore...hideous stuff like that). I agree that it's doubtful CP would allow a reality show to feature their employees....if they did allow it they'd demand strict control..they clearly want to remain seen as a family-friendly park and Mtv reality shows in particular are anything but "family-friendly."

Yah, I don't see any major park going for something like that.

If I remember correctly, someone shot one based on Schlitterbahn several years ago. The park had say in what aired and they literally didn't have enough useable footage to make a show.

A show like that would probably focus on dumb guests. Similar to that reality show a few years ago about Southwest Airlines, which focused on passengers which were a pain for the customer service agents.

Will they show dorm life, long hours, employee cafe, and bringing in donuts in the morning after a day off? :P

I talked to a producer recently from a production company planning this sort of thing. She was fishing for a freak show, and I told her that most parks weren't going to be willing to paint their employees or guests as morons. That wasn't the answer she was looking for, but whatever.

I would watch it just because you would get to see the park from a different perspective so to speak. I do agree with everyone else so far that there is no way to Cedar Point would allow it. It would draw in more people of a certain age group I would think but yet it could back fire as well -I dont think of clean family fun when I think of Jersey Shore :)

I would hope they wouldn't do it. It seems on all MTV reality shows they just show the bad side of people so that the people watching it would enjoy it. Why would the worlds greatest amusement park want to be shown in that way?

Lol here's how it'd go...End of work day, get fresh, go to Louies/Crowbar/somewhere and get trashed or buzzed. Take someone home, score donuts/orange juice. Wake up early, possible hangover or whatever, get in uniform, go on 250, get donuts and OJ. Return to ride...Disptach trains like a boss while playing your team with the crew...Repeat

Excellent show material right there :P

But I'd watch it if it actually gets apporoved.

MTV would be the wrong company for this to be done with. If it was a network like Discovery, or Travel Channel that wanted to document what happened in the park's spring setup or even a Halloween setup, I can see that happening. But following workers around at a park for their job seeing what they do, will you could replay the first episode every week and it would be the same as if they filmed new ones for every week. Nothing really changes from day to day.

Back when I worked there, EVERYONE talked about how they should do a Real World: Cedar Point because it would totally fit the format. The amount of drama, drinking and, sex that goes on at employee housing is just... well it is Real World or more recently Jersey Shore level. They would have WAY more than enough material for a reality show even if they barely showed the day job.

The thing is: I'm pretty sure CP doesn't want that common knowledge.

Perhaps this could be some type of misguided marketing or recruitment strategy to attract more employees. The park already reaches out to the ends of the earth to bring in employees that barely speak english. The show could bring exposure to the park as a hip and cool place to work despite the low pay. If the program airs nationally, it could bring national exposure to the regional park. Perhaps even bring people to the park that want to see first hand (like watching a train wreck) the goofy antics of those characters depicted in the reality show. The park would just claim that any negative feedback was just a result of editing and made for TV drama.

It's not going to happen at CP...You only know so much about our lives :P...

There are so many stories left untold which will never be told again unless it's another ride op/ect :P
