Question About Weather. . . .

Now, i have been studying the weather on weather channel.com for some time now, actually about a week and a half, because i am going to the point on wednesday. But the weather has been fine, saying mostly cloudy, but a 30% chance of rain. Then today i check it at about 5, and it says showers, but only a 40% chance. How accurate is the weather for Sandusky, opposed to Cedar Point, because i know its close, but sometimes its not right, and also how accurate is the weather channel? i was just curious, because i don't want my day ruined because of some rain, and i was just curious. thanks.

Oh yeah, and how hard does it have to rain before they shut down certain rides?

You can't tell the future.All I can say is keep hoping.Before I went to the point I was looking at 5 different websites. each said something different.Cross your fingers

What Coasterguy said is basically right..Cedar Point gets about the same weather as Sandusky because it IS Sandusky...just on a peninsula...

Weather forecasts aren't perfect anywhere, and Sandusky is the same. I'd be sure to watch the weather 48 hrs. before your trip for the best forecast (now).

Just remember how weird and crazy Ohio weather is. We had snow in mid April! So my advice is to take Coasterguy's advice.:)

Yet the weather channel reports weather out of Lorian/Elyria which is 20 miles east, and/or south of Cedar Point which is well off the lake.

All the rides have different tolerances for rain and bad weather. Nearly everything (all the coasters, Power Tower, Demon Drop, etc) will shut down in lightning, and must remain closed until the lightning is well and truly gone. As for rain, some of the first rides to go down will be the Wildcat and the Demon Drop, others vary. Iron Dragon will go down to clean out the "diapers" between the cars that would catch the water, but most of the coasters can operate in rain pretty continuously. If it is raining too hard, obviously, it becomes painful to ride, and they're closed.

Last year I checked the weather channel about an hour before we left for the park and they were predicted good weather for that day and the next. We had great weather that night in park and woke up to 45 degrees and pouring rain the next morning. So 48 hours in advance doesn't even work sometimes.
