Jumbo Jet alive and well. On ride video

Found this video on youtube. A Jumbo Jet front seat on ride video:

Seems the old girl is alive and well and living in Russia. In a park called Dreamland. Looks like she has a new paint job. The video is from 2011.

I only got to ride it on one trip to Cedar Point as a kid. I thought those who never road it might enjoy the video. It is fun seeing it bright and shiny with a fresh coat of paint.

I think it is interesting how similar the color scheme is to Gatekeeper. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Yeah it got overhauled and really looks nice, I didn't know there was a pov up for it though! I looked all over for one.

Then again for some reason it didn't occur to me "search for it in Russian."

Wow great find. Kind of amazing that it's all the way in Russia.

Thanks for posting this. I never got to ride this at CP. It reminds me a lot of the Whizzer at SFGA, in terms of the type of ride. Although I think the Whizzer is a better ride, based on what I saw of this video.

The ride is in Belarus, not Russia.

Brings back memories of 1976, looks like lots of refurbishing done, supports look coincidently familiar......this was a fun ride and did not have a big footprint....could be reincarnated easily. And just goes to show that if you take care of good steel, it lasts a long time

Now I know what my dads been talking about when he says he misses this ride, and wouldve rather had it than WildCat

That lift seems painfully slow. It does look like a really fun ride though!

Oh it was, and the sound of the motors underneath the cars plus the smell of the ozone where a unique experience at that time. It was a hellava ride for it's time.

If I recall correctly, it took guts to get on this ride....the track would sway a foot or so as cars went down the spiral............probably scarred some folks!

This was the ONE ride I wish I could have gotten the chance to ride. Thanks for posting this...

Awesome memory, thanks for the link! And yes, the lift was incredibly slow and the line was really long... but at the time this ride was the bee's knees (as we used to say way back in 1976).

Six Flags Great America has a coaster almost exactly like that, except the track is spread out more. It's called Whizzer but I'm sure you all already knew that. :)

My mom used to have an old photo of herself, in the 70s, standing in front of a red Jumbo jet. It was taken in Toronto, Canada. If only I could see it again. She showed it to me when I was a teenager.

I appreciate the POV video because when I was finally tall enough to ride it, it was the year it left CP. All I heard from my brothers and cousins before that was how great of a ride it was and how it whipped you around. I guess you can't feel that from a video but it's better than nothing and gives me an idea.

Thanks again!

The control booth and the motor/generator set was at the brake run at the end. It looks like that has been upgraded.
