Causeway

Just a question out of the blue what if you had a speed bicycle could you go on the causeway and lock it near the picnic shelters? Haha that 6.00 parking fee should do the trick lol.

I don't think bikes are allowed on the causeway, and I know that walking definately is not. The only vehicles allowed are cars/buses/RVs, like that.

I don't know if you are still allowed to do this or not, but you could in the past. If you ride your bike down the Chausee (residential neighborhood), there used to be a very small bike rack by the toll booths, way out there. It was mainly for the employees who lived on the Chausee and worked at CP. When I worked Tolls (last millennium), an occassional bicyclist would park and lock the bike there. We did not charge toll for that, since technically the vehicle didn't enter CP property. So if you want to treat yourself to a long bike ride and a looong walk to the front gate and save yourself $7 (!!??), go for it!

And that is a long ride, too! The one year I worked at the Point, my mother decided to do me a favor and got me a bike. With some of her Fascination coupons. Already assembled. Only one way to get it off the Point, since I didn't live in one of the residences right out there: I had to ride the bike down the Chausee and then back into Sandusky. Ow. Long ride.
