Lighthouse Point idea

Does anyone else think it would be a good idea for CP to rent the cottages and/or cabins during the off-season. Maybe even for just a few weeks. It would be a great Christmas/New Year's getaway.

Its a good idea but it would be very very cold being right on the lake like that.

I bet they could make a killing during the winter holidays for people that just want to get away from there home and "be w/ nature". (Not to mention the random roller coasters in the background! ;)

I think they may have some winter success if they rent the cabins out to ice fishermen. Maybe even have a fishing guide or two on staff.

Trust me I know from living on a lake. During the winter if you want to have a good time the last place you want to be is next to a large body of water. Although i'm sure it would be kind of fun to stay out there for a few days secluded.

That's a good idea, Pete. But wouldn't it be better if the cabins were ON the lake? It would be really cold to get up, walk onto the lake and sit there all day freezing.

I'm sure if they installed heat to the cabins, some people would rent them in the winter. Unless there is already heat.

I like the idea. A little of subject here but, a frozen lake at sunset has got to look awesome from LHP.

I now know there might be some confusion with LHP meaning left handed pitcher, instead of Lighthouse Point, It means Lighthouse point. Just like MF means Millennium Force and not (insert offensive term). Come to think of it, I should avoid those all together.

I'm not an ice fisherman, but I do know that people go out on the ice and many times have a portable tent/shanty that they put over the hole they cut to go fishing. That's why I think lighthouse point might be ideal for ice fishing. The cabins ARE right on the lake, so they make a convenient home base for those fishermen wanting to go out on the lake and freeze. Not my idea of fun, but places on Put-In-Bay do a pretty brisk business during years of good ice on the lake. So Lighthouse Point might have some potential for that.

Yes I agree--would be very cold indeed right on the lake especially in late December and early January. But if they did open up Lighthouse Point, maybe they could open the park as well for Christmas! Oh wait--they already tried that and it failed miserably. LOL Anyway, let me shift the topic from hot to cold! Will the Lighthouse Point cabins/cottages have air conditioning? Just curious....

I certainly HOPE so, that really would be common sense for the designers..wouldn't it?

I know for a fact that the cabins will have air conditioning. That's about all I know really--I'll know more on May 4th when I get a tour for training.

The resorts/campground will never be open other than during the park season. Its just too hard to get staffing. CP Resorts are unlike normal hotels because other CP departments do tasks normally done within the hotel. For example, there is no hotel accounting or linen, it all goes to the central cash control office or linen services, respectively. It would be easy for Breakers Express to stay open all year, but for this reason it is difficult.
