Raptor Clone in Japan?

I was just browsing on coaster-network.com and I came across a page displaying a Raptor clone!

I thought Raptor was exclusive to Cedar Point.

I didn't know this coaster existed! Did you guys?

It's completly white and called Orochi.

check it out:

Yeah, this came up a while back- http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/cpplace/thread.asp?ForumID=1&TopicID=3068

Gotta love the search feature!

That is pretty messed up. Either CP screwed up and didn't protect Raptor's design or just made a lot of money by selling it to this park. Oh well, at least it's in Japan so it won't hurt CP's business.

Japan is also the site for the fist ever SBNO B&M, I do believe it was called Pyreness...the owners are currently looking for a buyer for it. (anyone interested? lol) It was an inverted, and if I remember correctly, it was a clone of Batman.....gee, original! hahaha

What isn't a clone of Batman?

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point.
The coaster I mentioned 'afore...Pyreness. In Japan.

The RAPTOR clone is called Orochi and is at Expoland near Osaka. I went there on my birthday this year and it was FREZING! In Japan they keep the theme parks open year round even though it gets cold enough to snow.

It is an IDENTICAL clone of the RAPTOR except for the colors. The supports are steel grey and the track was a sort of fuscia/pink! I am thinking it was red when the coaster first opened in 1996, but it has faded over the years.

The ride was great and fast, but it was bit strange cresting the top of the lift hill and not seeing the familiar CP midway. I have some pics of it if anyone is interested.

And it looks like a darn good one, at that. Look at how tight the helix is that threads the 2nd vertical loop! Have Mercy!!

Hey Cedar Fair, buy it and put this sucker in at Knott's!!!

Ahh, yes you are right Soggy. Terribly sorry about that one everyone. There is a clone of Batman somewhere in Japan, I just cannot remember the name...thanks for clearing that up Soggy.

There are 2 Batman clones in Japan. One is named Diavlo, the other is called Gambit.

***Ironic Humor Ahead***
So Raptor no longer rules the sky... It's just another clone!!

I think Gambit is the one that is Standing, but unfortunatly Not Operating. How tragic.

if raptor was really cloned they can be sew big cash$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Cedar Point may not own the rights to the design. I belive they don't. So Cedar Point can't "sew"(sue) for cash nor could they sell the design. Also Raptor is not a clone but it was cloned.
