No, not all Arrow suspended coasters are like this, I think the reason is because it was one of the first suspended coasters ever.

The Bat at Paramount's King's Island was the first suspended coaster. It was built by Arrow in 1982, but wore itself out strucutrally, and therefore was dismantled.

Bush Garden's Big Bad Wolf was also built before the Iron Dragon. I can't think of any others that were built before it however.

I XLR-8 (currently at SFAstroworld) was also built prior to Iron Dragon.

Could be either getting the majority of the cars off the lift chain before the rapid acceleration, or something with how the cars are connected maybe.

I thought the bat closed due to people getting hurt on it! Due to tight turns! Any ways maybe the shallow drop adds anticipation to the people in the front. Although now adays it seems slow but I bet when it opened it was scarry!

The bat had like a 30% downtime, most of it from the wheels and structure cracking. The turns were not banked enough.

I was one of the "lucky" (NOT) riders who waited 3.5 hours to ride "The Bat". Why were all the people screaming on this ride? Because they could NOT believe they wasted 3.5 hours to ride the thing. It was a PUKE (horse term for UGH) It was simular to ID but even as boring as ID is it is 150% better, more comfortable and less jerky than TB was. You would be surprised to hear all the people who swear Top Gun was The Bat.
Then there's US who know better!!!

I always assumed that the shallow drop on Iron Dragon is due to the fact that it was designed as a family ride instead of a thrill ride.

I personally think that Iron Dragon is the worst Arrow Suspended out there. It goes like this
1 Big Bad Wolf BGW
2 Ninja SFMM
3 Vortex PCW
4 Top Gun PKI
5 XLR 8 SFAw
6 Iron Drag-on
The drop on ID is soooo gradual that it makes the rest of the ride seem slow.
I think the reason is, is to make the coaster availiable to everyone. Smaller kids, and Adults.
