Room Rates

Just received my reservation notice for next summer. Rates have increased by about 20%. Looks like we'll have to cut back on the number of days staying at the Breakers this year. I know about supply and demand but in these economic times this increase seems rather steep.

You could be getting more perks too, there's alot going on for this season, just wait and see. Apparently there are more night time opportunities for resort guests this year or whatever, someone brought that up in another thread. Just be patient and wait

If you use the promo code "return" under promotional it works on select dates at most properties except Camper Village and Lighthouse Point. I did that for Breakers and got a pretty good rate opening weekend. This code has worked for the past few years now.

Any idea of what the new "perks" might be? The television sets sure could use some updating. Other than that, I can't think of anything that might justify such a whopping increase in one year. Is this perhaps one of the innovations due our new CEO? If so, please bring back Richard Kinzel.

Demand?

One of the CEO's primary tasks is to ensure the company's health. Making money is sort of an important mechanism for company health.

You do realize that Cedar Point entertained a record amount of guests last year right? Where do you think the majority amount of those guests stayed?

I get to pay more for my hotel, so I can pay more to see the dinosaurs.

Oh boy.

I checked the rates and noticed that for rooms in the Bon Air section it says "Room includes 2 Double Beds. New for 2012, Room features include updated fixtures and dr in the room and bathroom." I'm not sure what dr is supposed to mean. As far as room rate increases, with the RETURN promotional code the rates look very similar to what they were for early May last year.

Since the mystery addition is in both the room and the bathroom, perhaps it is a hair dryer. Rates for early season with the return code are similar to last year, but from mid-June on the increase is considerable. It is probably correct to say that it is a supply and demand thing. We stay at the Hotel a lot, probably 20+ days over four visits but that will be scaled back a bunch this summer. Maybe next year it will be time to do Disney instead.

Can't agree more. Just compared cottage rates in July with last years, the increase is about 3%. Many resort destinations are discounting prices, giving deals or generally lowering the overall cost of a visit. Flights are cheap and Florida/California are real nice in May and platinum passes are good at KBF...ummmmm..... KBF is only about 15 minutes from Disneyland...ummmm

If someone can get me into Club 33, I'm on my way...

Thats the dynamic of price increases. Goal is to maximize profits (not necessarily volume). If you increase your prices, you will lose some customers who would have purchased at the lower price but who won't buy at the higher price. But a lot of people will continue to buy even at the higher price. Depending on how many people you lose compared to how many people you retain, you can make higher profits with the higher prices and fewer customers.

Also, if you have a platinum pass, type in PASS for the promo code...10% off i believe, but you need to show your pass upon check in.

Hopefully updated decor for the bon aire rooms is the mystery term!

Looking at the list of Hotel Breakers amenities and restaurants on the new CP website, there is not any mention of new night time opportunities as someone mentioned earlier. Looks exactly the same as last year.

Just looked it up for my stay in June and it knocked off close to 100 bucks for a 3 night stay at Breakers. Thanks for that code!
