Monday will be my first time at Cedar Point on the 4th of July. As a firework enthusiast more than I am a coaster enthusiast, I would like to know where the best spot is to watch the fireworks. If I remember right, they are launched from the beach behind Wicked Twister or maybe over more towards Disaster Transport. Can you watch them from the beach?

Anywhere in the front of the park with a clear view of the sky will work but by far the best view is the beach.

Are the full size shows such as the 4th done internally or outsourced?

With how ghetto Giant Wheel is looking at night nowadays, you might want to pass on the pic of the fireworks and the Giant Wheel.

The show is outsourced. I forget the name of the company that has done them in the past, but they're pretty well known in the world of firework shows.

Zambelli Internationale, Inc. is the company that puts on the show.

Don't even bother. The fireworks at CP on the 4th are about on par with KI's nightly show. Year's ago they used to be a 25-30 min show, with a grand finale lasting at least 5-10 minutes. Now the whole show may be 15 min.

DBCP are you sure its Zambelli? CP not listed on their 2011 show schedule but Hershey Park is.

Zambelli is quickly becoming less of a known name in Fireworks biz since the old man died in 2003.

Pyrotechnico out of New Castle PA is quickly taking over the title. They are the ones who do the Olympics, Superbowl, Indians, Pirates, and Steelers games.

Well, Zambelli is the company who always did it in the past, and they're still listed as the company in this year's press release, which I'm assuming is accurate.

Edit: Bill, that list of location also says "Zambelli Fireworks will be producing almost 500 displays across the country this year for July 4th Celebrations. The following list is a sample of America celebrating with Zambelli Fireworks..."

...my guess is they're just not one of the locations chosen for that list.

The best place to watch them is from the water on a boat!

Thanks to everybody. I believe we will be watching on the beach. I assume we just go out the beach gate and find a place to sit, right?

I saw the fireworks both Sunday and Monday nights, and it seemed like the show was greatly improved over previous years.

I was there in the parking lot watching. I was really impressed with the quality and quantity of the display. They really did a good job.

DBCP I hadn't seen the press release. I would assume too that it is correct :)

I too would assume the press release is accurate. :)

Maybe someday it will change to Pyrotechnico. I've worked with those guys. Would be cool to add CP to the list of venues i've shot fireworks for!
