I didn't think this was exactly news worthy.

A project to install sidewalks along Cedar Point Drive from Cleveland Road to First Street is tenatively scheduled for this fall. The project is contingent on having financing in place, though, so the fall start date is not set in stone.

It's about time. Spruce it up with flowers and benches too. Make it look like a nice tourist city.

Every time I see someone walking the grass in that area, I always wondered why the heck there's no sidewalk. I agree that it's about time. Hopefully they'll have finances in place so that it can be installed by next season.

Or worse, people walking in the road. I don't know how many times I've had to slow down or change lanes due to people walking in the street between Breakers Express and Thirsty Pony.

Hmm, I haven't seen too many people walking the road, but that's definitely not very safe, what with all the curves in the road.

It seems like the park could have done that on their own any time. I'm wondering if it wasn't a conscious decision to avoid guests mingling with employees (and vice versa) between Breakers Express and the employee housing area.

^ I'd assume that's a pretty good guess. Isn't there already a sidewalk between First and Fifth Streets (Dairy Queen), or at least between employee housing and Fifth Street? I swear I remember walking on a sidewalk when I'd go from housing to East of Chicago.

Yes, there's a sidewalk in front of DQ, although I can't for the life of me remember where it ends. I know it doesn't reach the fire station.

You could always ask Shel Silverstein. :)
