I think Dragster is worse than Skyhawk, at least when people are lined up outside the queue. The pressure release as the brake fins drop is incredibly loud when you're standing right next to them.

I love the sound of Dragster's launch, but it just hurts my ears. Haha

I was equally disappointed...I know there have been multiple comparisons of MaxAir and Skyhawk, but the one thing I love about MaxAir is how long the ride time is. Skyhawk was maybe 7 swings and it was over. Maybe capacity is a result?

Ohh man, I knew you guys would be talking about this! They're back to 9 swings. In 2006 the ride opened and very quickly they shortened it to 7 swings. The nine swing option had to be activated by a maintenance person, but now it's nine swings in daily operation, I was blown away when I went to ride it on Sunday! This is a good thing! :-)

I'm glad I saw this topic on the homepage since I logged on to find and comment just on this. I rode it yesterday and as it reached the highest swing I thought "great here come the brakes", but was surprised and loved getting the extra swings at full height! I also thought they were checking restraints quicker which was a big plus, but I don't want to get carried away on that one.

Well, Kennywood's my local park, and when you ride Swingshot about 6 times a day, 6 times a summer, it's not as load. :)

I dont know, and I'll just ride it when I go back. But it was just so short. I was dissapointed. Poast times this season I had ridden it, it had gone a full 9 swings. Just...weird. Huh.

Its has to do with the ride being in sync. They have had the designers out there this year to fix it and then they added swings to the ride. However, last Sunday it was out of sync again. If it gets too bad they have to shorten the ride or put it down to one arm.

Rode recently and it was the long swing cycle but only one arm operating. The line was 45-50 minutes most of the day. With that long of a line it would have been nice to run both sides even if it had to be a shorter cycle; I'd rather get in two rides per hour than one.

Awfully darn loud, although not the loudest noise I've ever heard at the park: that would be a foursome of shrieking 9-year old girls.

Skyhawk is one of my favorite rides in the park...always the 1st ride we try to get on as there is no line early in the morning (with or without early entry).

Very happy to hear it has been extended!

I was actually thinking that they added another swing to it and made it a little longer this year. They need to since they gave maxair more ride time but sky hawk is def better.
