History of Cedar Point.

Okay, let me start off by saying that I am a first timer here. So, I hope that this hasn't been asked before, and if it has, I sincerely Apologize.

I have been a Cedar Point fan for 10 of my 20 years. My Parents got me started on Roller Coasters and I have loved them ever since my first Ride on the Gemini.

I also love history, and I was wondering, if someone knew of a great place I could go to to learn all about the History of Cedar Point. I went to their official Website, but that got me eager to learn more.

I appreciate any assistance. And I appreciate the fact that you let a "Newbie" here.

I hope to post a lot in here.

Thanks in Advance,

Mark.

The best book I've seen on the history of Cedar Point (and actually the only one I've seen) is called Cedar Point: The Queen of American Watering Places. I didn't see it for sale on the CP website, but did find it on Amazon. Anyone know of anything better?

The bok mentioned above is a very great source of the history.

Also, the main web site also offers a lot.

The book mentioned above is out of print. You may be able to find it on Ebay, though the price is quite high. There is a new book, by the same author, which is available at Cedar Point web site.

At the park, you can go to the Town hall museum which is in the back of the park next to skyhawk. when the park is open, you can visit anytime you want and it has planty of historic artifacts inside on display! Ther is sometimes an employee at the front desk area where you can ask questions.

Speaking of history, the 1985 Cleveland Am video featured
on the home page is great. It brings back wonderful memories
of my childhood! :)

Thank you all for your answers. I really appreciate it. I did take your advice and orderd the book off Amazon. And I did order the DVD off the website.

History has always been a love of mine, so Thats why I am going to school to be a teacher. One advantage of doing what I love, will be that I get the Summers off, and that means......One thing.....Cedar Point!!!!!!!

Thanks again!

Mark.

P.S. Mr. Hammond. Excellent Time Line!!!! That was cool!

I think Wikipedia gives a pretty fair accounting as well. I know it's subject to everyone's input, but it seems pretty thorough on this one.

Looks like you put a good deal of time into that timeline Jason, thank you.

I haven't checked out wiki's page yet. There's too much room for error there. I need to recheck some of my documentation, but I think I've even found a few mistakes on CP's page.
