Have you ever seen it?

How many people have actually seen the trains being transfered from the transfer track to the coaster track? I did my second last trip to CP. I found it very interesting. It only took about a minute. I could almost touch the transfer car. It was so cool.

I thought watching the Raptor transfer was an act of God, but watching the MF transfers are realy cool. My favorite was the time I was in station and I saw the train go backwards onto the transfer track, that was very cool.

Yeah, I saw a train being moved onto the track. In line, we had seen mechanics working underneath it, and just as we were about to board our train, they put the next train on. A large black man in dress clothes, a supervisor I guess, walked up and sat in the front seat of the car. I suppose they can't let the public ride first on a train that had been off, and put supervisors on to look for something that could still be wrong.

The best part, though, was while we were look at our on-ride photo, there's this empty train with one big man in the front seat holding on for dear life. :)

I saw it when the red train was about to lose a wheel, and they put it on the transfer track

I was right next to the transfer track standing in line, and they took the red train off. It was cool, it went so fast.

there were a lot of chances to see this early season,but in the late season,it was a rarer thing to see

Wish I would have, it sounds cool. I just don't go there often enough to get an experience like that. I've never seen anything get transferred to the transfer track, if I would have it would have been pure luck.

MFistheBEST, you say you don't go there often enough to see it? I've been to Cedar Point for a total of two days in my life, and have been on MF the same amount of times. I guess it was luck.

i remember the thing i noticed most was the lift sled coming down into station with no train there when i saw one being added,saw that same one being removed the ride before that same day from right at where the transfer track moves,kinda good timing i guess huh?

I saw it in mid-June when they tranferred one train off right away in the morning. They had let us into the line, but no one had been able to ride yet. It didn't seem so fast, but I think that was because they were trying to decide if they should transfer or not.

Must have been Lynch, I've been there just about every year for about 6 years. This year I got my first opportunity to go 2 times in the same year. Never seen it though, that's strange.

I saw the Raptor trains get transferred on the track on August 22nd, but that was probably because I got there early and waited in line so I got to see it. I thought it was pretty cool. Hopefully in 2001 I'll get to see a mf train transfer.

I had just arrived in the MF loading station, waiting for my train to be advanced into the station. Then, they slid the transfer track and advanced the yellow train forward, and let us load. It had been running earlier. Luckily, I had my camera in my pocket :)

I saw a Raptor train transferred in Bonus Weekends. It's pretty awesome!

I saw the MF transfer track get stuck, and maintenance had to use an incredibly long pry bar to move it in to position. I was waiting for the second to last seat when it happened - what luck. I was fortunate enough to see a number of transfers on MF last summer.

Only slightly off topic, during the summer of ‘99, I was waiting on the Magnum platform when they closed temporarily to remove a car from the transfer track. They used crane to lift the car from the middle of the train and put on a flatbed truck waiting by the little guard building. That was a rare sight indeed. I was waiting near the back for that one too, so I got a good view.

Too bad I didn’t have a camera either time. I do have an interesting shot of the Raptor in mid transfer, taken from the platform. That was just after the train was unloaded in the brake run, using the little wheeled platform they have to assist people off with. The photographic quality isn’t great, but the topic is!

Transferring trains was one of the most fun things about working on MF.. aside from pissing people off at entrance! hehehe..

It was, as was par for the course, complicated. For those more interested in the technical side of things (I know you're out there), I'll illustrate: To transfer a train on, the train in the load station was dispatched. We had to wait until it parked in the waiting area (otherwise known as the final run). Then the ride was put into manual mode in conrols, and the catch car (lift assembly) was lifted past a certain point, as determined by proxy sensors, shown on a screen. Then the person with the key out at the transfer panel would turn the key, activating the panel, and hit the drove motor buttons in a certain sequence to move the train forward from the storage track.

It was reversed or modified as the circumstances changed--transferring off, putting on 2 trains, etc. But transferring on or off one train could be done in about 2 minutes if done by the right people.. :)
