Actually, they don't count the first island turn as overbanked. The first turn, second island turn, and last turn are all overbanked.

Right on MF Fan 4 Life!!!! I have to agree with you on Raptor...that is very close to the perfect coaster.

With 1 being OL:FOF (or whatever they're gonna call it now) and 10 being SFNE's SROS...

I personally give the Millennium Force an 8. It has some airtime at the end, bunny hops, really. To answer the question of what inverted really is, I did some research and found some interesting facts:
Inverted: Upside-Down IE: Raptor
Suspended: Under-the-track IE: Iron Dragon
Out-and-Back: IE: the obvious: Magnum
Millennium Force has NEARLY INVERTED TURNS, they are not inverted 100%, otherwise you would think there would be shoulder straps. Oh, I really think that the way the lap bar is designed you really don't get that falling out of your seat feeling, do you?

Well no no no, an "inverted" coaster such as Raptor is not simply a coaster that goes upside down. That is a special kind of coaster, designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, in which the cars hang from the track but cannot swing freely from side to side, and one's feet are allowed to hang. Vekoma has a similar design (but MUCH worse) called a Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC) or more often in enthusiast circles: hang 'n bang.

While it is true that coasters that go upside down have what are called "inversions," they are not "inverted" coasters.

The MF inversion vs. non-inversion debate is blah blah blah. Both sides have some good arguments as to why 122 degrees *should* constitute an inversion. I'm staying out of this one, I'll just be happy with NO OTSR's (shoulder restraints) and some wicked overbanked turns. :) :)

What do you want to use as the term for a coaster that goes upside down?

Looping is a misnomer, as there are horizontal loops, and I refuse to refer to a corkscrew as a loop.

A term for a coaster that goes upside down. Wouldn't Multi-Element work? It's been a description used by ACE on their big list of coasters that they've put out in the past.

Even calling it an "inverting" coaster is okay. It is a coaster that *turns* inverse somewhere along the course but is basically normal, the riders above the track. It is not a coaster whose concept is basically the opposite, or the inverse, of a normal coaster, i.e. the track is above the riders instead of below, "inverted". That is the slight difference between "inverted" and "inverting."

This brings a weird quandary...should inversion elements on inverted coasters even be called inversions? The riders are above the track where they belong...

Hehe, something to think about while you're eating your Thanksgiving leftovers. :)

I'd have to give it a 9.9, nothing is perfect, but MF is the next best thing! All I have to say is that if the "overbanked" turns aren't inversions, then the inclined loop on Mantis is nothing but a helix.

EHHH It's not the best but it's now the worst but id have to give it a 6. Sorry guys but its not that good. Goliath Is much better id give goliath a 10. Goliath realy pulls those G's on the helix and has great airtime on the camelback but Millennium Force doesn't pull very many.

CPSUCKS is just a hater. Goliath no doubt is a good roller coaster, but on polls how high does it get. I know Millennium Force is number 1. There is no doubt about that.

Magnum is the perfect coaster at 10. Millennium Force is better than perfect at 20.

I'm more than a little biased, but I'd give MF a 9. I would give the 10, but I'm sure that there'll be something better in the coming decade. It's definitely the best ride I've ever ridden. If I was looking for bruised thighs, Magnum gets a 10!
