Brett-
Which trains are you talking about? The CP&LERR trains or the trains of the roller coasters?

Photographic philosophy:If it moves at CP-take 1 picture. Not moving-take 3-4 pics minimum!

Either.
But more importantly- coaster trains.

Is there anywhere I can see pics (other than the Maggie pics here) of trains??

It depends on the coaster. Differnt CO's want their trains to be stored differnt ways, some may be in a parking lot while others in a warehouse or the like, which ones go where, I dont know.

They all go in the parking lot around Breakers, but unless they can remove all of the important parts without the body of each car, they spend time in the shop where they are stripped down to parts, cleaned, inspected, parts and bearings replaced, etc. They are completely overhauled.

If you're going to make some comment like that you could just tell us what you mean so we don't have to act all interested in your great inside scoop.

and as far as the cp&le railroads trains,i was kinda curious if they were shopped out on site,or sent off point for heavy repairs myself,i do know they are under same rules as any other railroad, and steam engines are labor intensive too
anyone know anyhing on whats done to them over the off season?

If you mean my comment I just was saying that they have not changed the rollbacks in the back raptor cars. Should have been more clear

It's not the dogs on the trains, it's the ratchet strip on the lift. Correct me if I'm wrong (Dave), but I believe there is a wearable pad of some sort on each tooth of the strip. Over the past six years, those pads have been worn clear through to the steel, hence the horrid sound.

The CP & LE trains are all kept on point in the engine house. All the work is done by the train superintendent or his assistant.

On Raptor, from what I recall, they used to keep the cushioning pad in good shape, but it seemed to wear out very quickly. It seemed like it was quiet, and then two weeks later it was loud, and then the next week it was quiet again. I'm not sure if it's a cushion on the dog or on the ratchet strip. I bet they just decided not to replace it since it wears out so quickly. It's certainly not a safety issue.
