Don't know why the text didn't show, so I'll try again.

To all you CP&LE fans out there, wouldn't be nice to see the engine named "Albert" running the rails again? It's six drive wheels and long stature make it fun to watch. Currently, it is on static display along Frontier Trail. I know that recently it had it's cab rebuilt.

Does anyone have any insight on whether they plan to finish repairs and bring it back on-line?

I hate how CP and LE railway only has one train, it's such a wait.

Albert has a cracked frame - it would be terribly cost prohibitive to bring this engine back into running state considering they have a brand spanking new engine at Knots being prepared for service

*edit* The new engine was shipped to Knots on an unknown date - it is not in the engine house any longer.

At present - Cedar point has 3 operational locomotives

Myron, Judy K, and George R.

Myron and Judy are basically identical (vulcans)

George R is considerably larger and due to the weight is not used much

Jennie is in need of new sheets and other restorative work. I believe it is tarped behind the engine house.

In the summer they almost always have 2 running, from what I've seen it's usually Myron and Judy K. In the slower times they only run once because the crowds don't justify running 2.

I'd like to see Cedar Point turn the railroad into a haunted attraction during Halloweekends, similar to haunted hayrides. The only problem with it is that the train holds very many people, so scaring all of them at once is almost impossible. I'm sure it will probably never happen, but it seems like it would be neat.

The timing of scares could definatly be a challenge. What would possible be easier is what Knoebels does, a Haunted Car Ride. The Antique Cars would make the most sense not having any adjacent rides.

Cedar Point used to operate the CP&LE RR as a haunted attraction but stopped when they built Millennium Force. But yes, I would like it brought back.

Problem with that is the open design of the train and people's natural reaction to flee when they are scared. Guests fleeing from a moving train would be bad news. Other than that, I totally love the idea.

I haven't been to CP during halloweekends, but do they at least put up decorations? I can understand not scaring people though.

I'm thinking he meant do they put up decorations along the course of the railway. To my knowledge and memory, I don't believe so.

We've covered Albert's ailments on the CP&LE site pretty thoroughly. Besides the cracked frame the old gal has boiler issues as well as running gear problems. None of which is fatel, just costly to repair. If they were to bring one the non operational engines back into service, the better choice would be Jennie K ,IMHO.

^^ - not going to happen. At least not with Universal holding the theme park licensing rights right now.

You may get your wish... but not at Cedar Point. I heard there may be a Harry Potter theme park opening in Europe. I wanna say London but dont hold me to that. I checked rcdb.com but didnt see anything. Maybe its a rumor, maybe they are still planning it and havent had anything official yet... but it would be kinda spiffy to see.
