I am starting a new knex model based on the ride Maverick I will have construction pictures next weekend. I have built the hill and launch tunnel I'll have to get a couple more sets before I am finished. Is anyone else building a model of Maverick?

Oh 1 more thing since maverick has a launch tunnel and a launch hill I used rubber bands for both launches. What I did was supper glue the rubber band to one of the conectors.

That sounds really cool. Do you have any pictures? Keep us posted, I'd love to see it when it's finished.

im suprised you did rubber bands instead of small rubber wheels connected to little motors under the track. it would be automatic then instead of having to set it each time.

I have a question should I use the traditional chain lift or the rubber band ?

don't use a chain... but if you could find something more efficient than the rubber band, I'd do that. You can buy really cheap motors online and have it turn either a belt or a gear train to get it going up the hill.

Try http://www.sscoasters.net/ . I built a custom Knex coaster with help from that site last summer. E-bay is your best friend for Knex sets. Screamin' Serpent is the "basic" roller coaster set and Rippin' Rocket is a roller coaster set with 2 boosters. Those would be perfect for your tunnel launch. I would do a chain lift for the first hill though. This guy has some good odds and ends if you need specific Knex parts: http://stores.ebay.com/KNEX-Building-Toys-Parts-and-More . You could e-mail him. He might be able to get you a couple of boosters to buy. You also might want to get some AC adapters for the boosters so you don't use up lots of batteries if you plan to run the model a lot. I would like to see some pictures of it too.

We talked about this on the CD site that if you want a Knex set to launch put the gears on a long rod and attach that to a drill and there is a fast launch.

haha you're totally being "that guy." I think the whole purpose of that rule is just so we don't have young kids making immature comments. I don't think that really applies in this case.

^^ Well, mavericks1fan said that he's 12, so I think that comment was in reference to him. :)

And, since we're counting upward, I'm 15. :)
