2001 Guinness World Records

Just got my 2001 Guinness Book of World Records and Under the Category of "Tallest Gravity-Based Roller Coaster" it reads..."The steel-track Millennium Force at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, USA, reaches a record 310 ft. Designed by Intamin Ag of Switzerland and opened on May 12, 2000, the roller coaster's highest drop - one of 300 feet - allows riders to experience speeds of up to 92 m.p.h"
(we all know it opened earlier for some of us..giggle)
Anyways Steel Dragon is not listed as of 2001's edition as taller and is not even mentioned in the section of the book labeled "as we went to press"..The print date I found on my edition was August 2000...It was open as of then I believe?? Hmmmmmmmmm
Cedar Point is also listed in the book as "Most rides in a theme park" with 67...
Just thought the Pointers on this forum would like that tidbit...Nice book this year!!
Another tidbit..Superman the Escape at SFMM is given the honor of fastest roller coaster at 100 m.p.h (we all know thats not a coaster CP!!)..:)
