My CP ISTEP Essay

First of all, ISTEP is the Indiana system of testing for those of you who didn't know. Anyways, now that I am a big 8th grader, yes 8th, we are required to take them to prove we've learned something. (Ha!!)

Anyways, when we got to the writing part the topic was "Write about the Amusement Park of your dreams." I couldn't believe it! It was so coincedental because I'll be going to CP this weekend.... Weird Stuff. So, if you didn't guess I took the lazy route and briefly described CP. I probably did an exceptional job. Thank you God for picking a topic I'd enjoy!


So, has anyone else had to write that essay this year? And, in the past, did anyone do some graduate thesis on The Point? I'm sure there is enough info!

I WISH I could do my grad. school thesis on Cedar Point!

Too bad us Freshmen don't even have to take ISTEP!!! If I did, that would be a cool topic.

What a coincedent I just moved to 7th grade and for language we had to write a 3 page essay on somthing we love. Of couse I did it on CP:)

DAMN ISTEP!!! I'm a 10th grader, and I'm taking the test that determines if I graduate. We haven't gotten to the Writing part yet, but that would kick ass if ours was the same as the 8th grade question.

I always take prompts and try to make them relate to Cedar Point somehow. Most of the ones I've written are on my web site.

Hey! I live in Indiana, and I'm a freshman at Valparaiso High School, so I'll have to take those ISTEP tests again next year!

ISTEP? Sounds like something Mighigan High Schoolers had to take to graduate. The test was similar to what ISTEP sounds like. But don't fret. It, the Michigan test, died out after about 4 years.

Unfortunatly, the college system in this country requires its students to take requirments such as history. Luckly though, my U.S. History teacher says we can write our essays on the history of the subject that we are most interested in. Basically, it could be anything as long as it is American...so I will do mine on CP and have till the week before Thanksgiving to get it done.

For my senior english class, I have to write about a current event. One of the catagories that we can write under is "consumer safety" so I can do amusment park safety, and put CP in it.

ISTEP has been in affect for many, many years, but it was just 3 years ago that they required you to pass it as a sopomore to graduate. The thing I don't get about it, is that 30% of the people that take it WILL fail. Theoretically if you have a 99% on the test, and everyone else in the state has a 100%, you WILL fail. I see no logic in failing kids if they have a passing grade. I doubt I'll have a problem passing it, because I'm in the top 1% of my class. I'm glad I took it this year, because in 1 or 2 years, Social Studies and Science with be added to the test, along with the Math and English already required.

Using CP for a class assignment? That's a good idea! Actually, my (second) freshman year of college I had to take a public speaking class. Our third speech was an informative speech--explaining how something works. After picking my brain for hours, I decided to explain the safety system of a roller coaster. My class was so enthralled with it. My teacher asked me to give the speech to another class, as an example of how to do it right. Turns out, if you want people to pay attention, roller coasters is a good way to go. I didn't figure that people would be as interested in the topic as they were. And it was the easiest assignment I'd ever done. Knew it like the back of my hand.

I don't think I've gotten through a year of school without doing an assignment on Cedar Point, that is after I had gone.
