M Force Braking System

I asked a park employee, why there were no mid-course brakes on the ride.(which i think makes the ride much better). And she said that the brakes are underneath the car. and they can control the speed, from the control station. And she said that when the park closes the employees can ride it a few times. They can ride it at 122 mph. I believe this because i have a rollercoaster video that says that desperado is 80 mph. that's only 225 feet. And mforce is 85 feet than desperado. And desperado is 10 mph faster than Raging Bull and they are only 15 feet different. So i fine it hard to believe that mforce is only 93 mph.
It can't go over 97mph. This was already discussed in another thread. Plus what color uniform was the employee wearing. Also did their name tag say Park Operations on it.

The reason, I believe, that Desperado goes 80, becasue it is in a desert, and it has to do with something about more atmosphere pushing down on it so it goes faster. Rideman, a little help here.

The fastest theoretical speed of MF is 97, and it was officially measured at 93. I wouldn't be surpised if this thread gets closed or deleted because this issue has be discussed many times before, only to be proven wrong by physics. And unless the laws of physics have changed, it can't go faster than 97 mph. And that's in a vaccuum with no friction.
I don't believe the brake system stated by the employee.. Reasons follow..

Metal fins sticking out the side are used to slow down.. first after the final turn by the fix magnets, and the second in the last block stop area right before the unloading station (retractable).

Second, there is no way to send a signal to a moving car, this would require a constant connection via a wire or a signal rail the entire length of the ride. Neither exsist..

However, you may notice, just as you are goign up the black part of the line, a set of mounts sticking out the side of the track. However I don't think these would be brake mounts because of the number of stationary brakes needed just to slow down the empty car after the final turn.

Ugh... we've been over this a hundred times. There are no brakes under the train (trust me, I've been under them before). The maximum calculated speed is around 97 assuming no friction.

It doesn't. Take a physics class sometime.
Actually, heat does have something to do with it. My guess is it adds a couple of MPH (but it gets nowhere near 100 MPH!)

The easiest way to tell us what department this employee was from is to tell us the color, or colors, of her shirt. Also, the color of her name badge might also have something to do with it.

This sort of relates to this topic, so here goes.
I've been wondering how the magnetic brakes work. Is it like the Volcano on Discovery and alternate DC and AC, or reverse a DC current? Anyone know?

There is no current at all going to the brakes from what I can see.. Only conduilt going down the brake area is for the sensors.

Simple physics.. fast moving metal plates... stationary high powered natural rare-earth magnets.

If you watch an emptry train come through... They almost come to a complete stop. Therefore showing that there probably isn't a control current sent to the magnets (putting aside the fact there are no control wires) as the car wouldn't slow as much as it does.

It's a simple calculation of mass plus momentum vs. physical and magnetic friction.

Superman: Ultimate Escape at SFO uses the alternating AC/DC braking system and can actually be heard vibrating the metal plates as it comes to a final stop and into block stop position before the harness release contacts drop.

KMLASER you really need to chill man. I am going to tell you, you are very lucky this post didn't get deleted because no one really had to answer it for you. The best thing to do is to take what these people tell you in, because some of them have taken physics, and/or know about the make up of the roller coaster. Now I want you to also think about one thing. If Millennium Force could actually go to 100+ mph why would CP put on breaks? They would get the record for speed.

I find it best to ignore most employees when they start discussing these types of things. I overheard a Magnum op telling a guy in great detail the varying speeds of the different trains "The yellow is the fastest at 122mph" The op in the Space Spiral skipped the usual speil to inform all of us that MF goes faster with more weight so if you ride it with a lot of large people, you will get a better ride and the 92-93 stated mph is for an empty train, there is no way a loaded train can go less then 125mph. The fastest we have ever clocked a train at is 94 mph. It for a fact cannot go over 100 mph, it doesn't have a braking system under the trains. The only things under the trains are wheels and the "dog" for the catch car.
