I'm sure the other "original" Cedar Fair parks won't change the process. You'll still have to have the pass numbers logged by hand at whatever gate you go through. They may have a scanner for the Paramount Parks though, just because they were already all on the same system (and from what I hear they don't have pictures on their passes).
Is it really that much of a pain to wait a few seconds for someone to write down the pass numbers? It always amused me to see how frustrated people would get when I had to pencil in their numbers. It's a matter of seconds, but people act like they are so inconvenienced by it.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Well...
We had to wait ten minutes at guest services at Valleyfair! this past labor day weekend. There were two families ahead of us that were having their kids measured. If we didn't have to wait those 10 minutes we would have been able to ride Wild Thing before the massive downpour hit. Is it so difficult to be able to walk up to any CF park and have your pass scanned?
There is a simple way to avoid the "long waits" at CP though, go to any gate that isnt the Main one. For years my family would go to WOF or VF! before CP and we found that by going to other gates we avoid guest services and the employees at those gates have a clipboard on hand to write down your pass #s. If you are there at opening they will also generally let you fill it out before hand.
Good news from Dorney Park in PA. My family and I went today to visit and if you have a sister park pass you NO LONGER need to check in at guest services. The season passes from other parks are scanned at teh gate like a Dorney Pass, I was wondering if Cedar Point was now up to date with the new equipment? Has anybody with a sister park pass been there lately?
I have Max Passes to Kings Island. When we were at the park the end of July. All we had to do was go into the building next to the Magnum Gate, door is marked "employees only", sign in the name on the pass and the park that is your home park. That is it. Took less than a minute. I was really supprised that there was no verification of identity or anything even remotely close. No numbers were ever taken off the passes either, they remaind in my hand the entire time.

I experienced the same thing at the Magnum enterence. Very fast and convient and we didn't have to wait in the regular lines!
Passes from the other original cedar fair parks have your picture, so all we have to do is look at that and have you sign your name, then go in. From paramount parks, you sign your name and we scan them at the computer, which brings up information and the photo, so it usually doesn't take more than a minute.
