Mill Race

Anyone miss the Mill race as much as me? Sure Raptor really needed to be there but i remember that being my first ride of the day! I miss it a lot. Anyone else?

Yes! I really do miss that ride. Of all the water rides Cedar Point has had, I always thought it was the best.

Yeah, that is one of the few rides my entire family would ride together when we were younger. My mother would never go near White Water Landing. Raptor is a good ride but I still can't get used to the changes it brought to the front of the park. I remember my father's hat fell off while going down the drop. He told the guy at the bottom (the place where they would move the arm to direct the boats to either side of the loading platform) about it and the guy was able to retrieve it as it came floating behind us. It's interesting that one of the scenes from the Get to the Point video they sell are construction pictures of Mill Race. Remember the water squirting down over the doorway of the "sawmill" building that would turn off just as the boat started to go under it? It was always fun to watch everybody duck and lean to the side. *** This post was edited by Joe on 8/24/2000. ***

I loved the Mill Race! I remember one year my mother didn't feel well, so my sister and she went back to the hotel, and my dad and I went on the Mill Race over and over and over. It was a great ride for the whole family!

I don't mind losing some rides to make way for better ones. It was a good ride for those who were not thrill seekers. But Raptor or Mill Race?...when you are talking about one of the best coasters in the world, I don't really miss the Mill Race. That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see CP tear down a coaster to make way for a new one. I know everyone disagrees with that, and it may not happen in the immediate future, but I do see it happening. Hey, ten years ago would you have thought CP would have torn down the Mill Race?

I remember that everyone would always complain to the ride ops they didn't get wet. The ride ops would ask "did you close your eyes" and (whatever the answer) would promptly say "that's why". Most people said no so the ride ops told them next time close there eyes. The people fell for this all to often and would immediately run back to the entrance and get back on. When they went down the drop one of the ride ops scooped up a bucket of water and stood at the bottom of the drop. Needless to say the people got wet.
