I haven't been a member of this community for long, but I am continually impressed by how much fun it is. We talk about everything in particular, and this is a great place to come and share my love for everything Cedar Point. I don't know if this has been done before, but I would like to give a very sincere thanks to Jeff for making this possible. He works very hard to keep these boards under control without limiting what we discuss other than to the realms of common decency, and I really appreciate that. Thank you, Jeff, for being a great host! *Grin*

A very big THANK YOU also from me. These boards seem to filter out the, uh fools, somehow. Not only are the boards the best I have seen on the net, this is the very best Point page on the net IMO (no offense to any other CP webmasters :) )

Even though you won't tell us what exactly will go in the boardwalk project, you are still the coolest webmaster of any rollercoaster site I've been too. I think it's great that you will NOT take any crap from anybody that is offensive or an attack. Thank you Jeff for not only being a great webmaster, but a great moderator of peace.
[no offense, but I'd like to put all of that behind us, so I nuked your comments to avoid the issue coming up again. -J]

Jeff, Thank Your for running the most succesful Cedar Point website out there.

I'm glad you think that way. Heavily moderated forums generate a lot of traffic because there's more quality discussion and less noise. Any of you who frequent other forums know exactly what I'm talking about. The down side is that some people take it personally when you delete stuff, and they just generally don't like the moderated format. Someone recently pointed out to me that another board was filled with flames against CoasterBuzz because of the way we run things. That shows you the differing philosophy... I'd sooner delete anything that had to do with disgruntled members of that old affiliation than dwell on it and cause distractions from the real reason we post: the coasters. The record speaks for itself: GTTP has been around for almost three years, an eternity in Internet time, and the CoasterBuzz membership grows by 30% every month. I'm not trying to toot my horn here, I'm just pointing out that in light of all the recent forum closures and flame wars on other boards, ours thrive with the clarity of staying on-topic and moving forward.
I do have some potentially bad news to share with you regarding the sites, but we'll see how things turn out. It appears that sponsoring live forums has become a sore spot with various ad firms, and that could spell disaster for a lot of sites. GTTP and CB cost more than $300/month to keep live, and that ain't cheap. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks everyone for your support.

O.K. Jeff, you got my attention. What does that potentially mean for your two sites? Possible closure?

The charge is for the bandwidth (the means of getting the pages from my server to you). The site is fast because it's on my very own box, not shared with a hundred other sites. It's also connected to a network that rarely uses more than 15% of its available bandwidth, and that makes even more difference in speed. Make no mistake, this is a premium connection.

I don't know if anyone else really cares, but what bandwidth do you get? Kind of a techie question, but being a techie myself I thought I'd ask.

GTTP is about 14 GB/month, CB is about 6 GB/month (though both get the same number of visitors, the gallery on this site gets a lot of traffic and therefore uses more bandwidth). So you're looking at about 20 GB plus the cost of parking my box in my ISP's facility. Not cheap.

"Thank You being a moderator of peace." I agree. Thanks for keeping the site organized with spelling and grammar as well. I can't stand RRC. I don't even post over there anymore.
