Maverick... mini millennium force

I was lying down and noticed that Maverick is kinda like a mini-steeper millennium force. The first two drops are very very similar. Here is a picture.

No offense Zero, but that is a terrible comparison. How are the drops on Maverick and Millennium unique from any other roller coaster drop? That is like comparing CCMR to Mantis because they both have a turning first drop!

They are about as similar as Raptor and Dodge-Em.

I always thought it looked more like a larger version of Iron Dragon.. that is before it was repainted McDonalds style..

I don't know guys, I think Maverick is very unique in it's own way. What I mean by that is, Cedar Point has never built a coaster where the track goes under the lift hill. Another good point I want to make is the layout is completely different from what Cedar Point usually builds. We haven't seen a big layout like this since Millennium Force or Mantis.

I don't know if I would call Mantis a "big" layout. I actually think it is farily compact but doesn't feel that way given it's location. What makes Maverick different over many of the most recent coaster editions is that I believe there are relatively few people who ride coasters who would skip Maverick.

People might have been leary of MF, Dragster and Wicked Twister because of height, speed, or concerns about motion sickness. (I have not ridden Wicked Twister because I'm pretty sure it would make me nauseous...and I LOVE coasters.)

I think that it is a coaster that will have long lines in it's first season and in seasons to follow because it just looks fun.

Does Millennium Force have a 95 degree drop? No.
Does Millennium Force have inversions? No.
Does Millennium Force have a LSM launch? No.
Did Millennium Force cost 21 million dollars? No.
Did Millennium Force not break any records? No.

Are Millennium Force and Maverick anything alike? Barely.

I thought the same thing, at least for the 1st drop and that nice air time hill near the train station. I think it is also part Raptor, Mantis and WT with the similar speeds, inversions and launch. It's kinda like your 3rd or 4th kid, a little of each of the other's traits can be seen, yet still unique and a whole lot of fun even if she/he isn't as tall as the others! ENJOY!!!

Yes, a little bit, a launch to 70mph, I see a little of WT there. Maybe a touch of Magnum too! :) Some of the elements on Maverick are very similar to other coasters at CP and yet different, just like my kids IMHO. Not trying to argue, just my 2 cents. :) ENJOY!!!
