Rollbacks

Other than the occasional Gemini rollbacks, and the two Mean Streak rollbacks, are there any other coasters that have rolled back? Also, if you know where in the track and which train, I would like to know that too. Thanks a bunch.
I'm not sure if you would call this a rollback, or just a train getting stuck, but one year one of Magnum's trains got stopped on the turnaround.
The coasters that I know that have rolled back are Magnum, Raptor, Wildcat, MF, Gemini, Mean Streak, Mine Ride, Jr. Gemini.

I know that mantis and woodstock haven't.

I'm not sure about Blue Streak, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, or Disaster Transport.

For the record CP_Bound Magnum rolled back two days before it got stuck in the turnaround!

How exactly did Magnum get stuck in the turnaround? Did the trims hit to hard or something? I just don't get how it would get stuck back there.

Coincidence...I don't think so! LOL!
How did Mine Ride rollback?? and where?? thats a coaster i wouldnt think would rollback, same thing with Jr. Gemini.

The Magnum stalled on the turnaround due to high winds that slowed it down. I remember seeing the picture of a fire truck ladder unloading the passengers in the Register. This was before the wind speed failsafe system was implemented.
I could just see the passengers getting stuck on Jr. Gemini. That must have caused some panic?

The old Jumbo Jet has rolled back before.

Blue Streak has rolled back many times. In fact it has rolled back so much that anti-rollbacks have been installed on all but three of the rides nine hills.

Disaster Transport and Iron Dragon have never rolled back in the sense you are thinking of, but accidents on both rides have made both coasters stop dead in there well, tracks to say the least.

When Magnum stalled in the pretzel,it was before the wind monitor was installed.High wind on top of trims probably. slowed it down so much, that when going into first part of turn around,it tipped to side. There were no uplift wheels the first season,so the upstop brackets(like Gemini) caught and produced enough friction to stop it on its side. I have the original newspaper clippings on it. And they were only operating 2 trains that day,due to the fact that the other train was taken off two days earlier after it stalled and rolled back into the gully after the 3rd hill.
If i remember correctly,it also rolled back a couple of years ago during morning test run. Trims were not pulled for empty train. *** This post was edited by Magnum"Candy"Man on 8/11/2000. ***
Didn't Mine Ride roll back right before the station?

Hey Dan (or anyone else that would know):
Where did Raptor roll back and when?

Wow, I did not know roll backs were this common!
Neither did I. How did Blue Streak rollback? It's got good speed and wind isn't an issue. Where did Raptor rollback? What happened on DT and ID that made the trains stop dead in their tracks??

Raptor rolled back in 1994 or 1995 around the cobra roll (not sure if it was before, after, or in). As is the usual case with most of CP's coasters, a gust of wind caught it in the right spot and trimmed enough off it's speed to stall it out on the course.

Were there riders in it, or was it morning test runs??

A few weeks ago I saw an instance where those anti-rollbacks on Blue Streak saved their collective butts. Just before 10 a.m., I saw an empty train just partially cresting the turn around. I am interested to know how they moved it up the last few feet (a platoon of mechanics or a winch), because I'm fairly certain it opened on time.

I know that when Wildcat gets stuck on a crest, ride ops push it over. The same goes for the Mine Ride, so it might be true for Blue Streak as well.

Raptor rollbacks happen in the space after the Cobra Roll and before the block brakes.

Does the train actually stop on the anti rollback devise??

Also, again, how did DT and ID stop dead in their tracks??
Anti Rollbacks are not brakes. They are "grooves" usually on a lift hill. There is a metal bar underneath the cars of coasters that strike these grooves. So if a coaster rollsback, the grooves will catch the piece of metal and stop the train. The AR's are the clicking sound you here on the lift hills
I know that. But,(i.e. on Blue Streak) if the train is going to roll back on a hill protected by an anti-rollback, does the train stop as if it were stopped on the lift? Or does the anti-rollback slowly force the train over the hill? *** This post was edited by Brett on 8/13/2000. ***
