The idea that they would ever move at all was one created by The Blade. It apparently never occurred to them that Cedar Fair wasn't going to say, "Yeah, we're going to can all of those people and close the office."

when you are talking the kind of taxes that CP pays, the advertisements for the resort area, etc- Sandusky has the ability to hurt/help CP in many ways...obviously it would be devastating for both parties if sandusky would raise taxes or stop giving any tax breaks if there are any and stop any ads for the area. Businesses and Governments require joint efforts for either to be successful.
Sure the CF office has a minimal amount of employees at best, but its the idea of a company holding its corporate office in a location which can draw in other companies.
Look at northwest Arkansas, Walmart is located there- in an area that once used to be in the middle of nowhere. (I dont like walmart) but I think many other corporate offices have moved there to be near it, Tyson Foods is one of them

But it was stupid regardless. The corporate portion of Cedar Fair is so small and so lean that it wouldn't be any more of a big deal than if a McDonald's up and moved.

The Blade loves any story it can conjure up about the so-called "Toledo Brain Drain". They seem to love reminding us how nobody wants to live or work in this part of Ohio anymore. What I'm impressed with is they put this tiny blurb in today's paper, but not a single mention about Maverick. Maybe if they hadn't locked out all their employees they'd still be able to produce a newspaper.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Wasn't it the Register who started the "corporate move" story? Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I don't feel like looking in the archives. :)

My bad. I knew it was some paper. Shoddy speculation regardless.
