Mean Streak OP MAN

I noticed a few times when you ride MS toward nighttime, there's a man who says "We're gonna take you up REALLY HIGH and we're gonna drop you REALLY FAST. Hang on tight, (some thing something something that rhymes) and enjoy your ride on the Mean Streak at Cedar Point-America's rollercoast!

You're right Scooter -- when you've been working a 12 hour or longer shift (no joking!), you really need to do something to spice up your life. They do it on all the coasters, it just depends on who's on the PA and who's listening!

Yeah... that irritates me, and it sounds stupid to the once-a-year guests. If you know the numbers, how much extra effort is really used in saying them. I could do the Magnum spiel in my sleep. Why you'd say something stupid like, "We're gonna take you up really really high and drop you down really really low" is beyond me.

Did I mention it sounds stupid?

well, It's better than hearing nothing at all or a fuzzy recording that says "PLEASE KEEP ALL HANDS AND ARMS INSIDE THE CAR AT ALL TIMES" all the way up the lift hill at some parks we know

something like that!!! But Yes I do Agree that the MS guy gets annoying I want to hear how high I'm going(EVEN if its in inches!!) and it is kinda psychological!!!

Newt- I also love it when the Mine Ride ops say that!!
On most coasters they have to say the same thing over in over again like, "Welcome to Magnum, we're about to take you up 205 feet and drop you down 194.3 feet reaching speeds of up to 72 miles per hour!!" about 200 times a day!!! Imagine saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Or you could hurry up like he did a few times and get used to saying something else for a change!! They also do it on a bunch of the other coasters too. I've heard them say it on Magnum, Mantis, Mean Streak, And Raptor. And I also noticed that they don't say it on the smaller coasters and i don't hear many people complaining about it on them.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE ANNOUNCEMENT while waiting in line? Its annoying and it lies. at one part it says it the tallest wooden coaster and the next it says when it was built. hmmmmmm

John Q. Guest doesn't care how many times they say it. You have something you're getting paid to say, so say it. Part of the park's overall selling point is to let you know the height and speed of the rides. It's what they do.

The trouble is, when you wait in the station for multiple cycle, you get tired of the spiel too. I've been in a few stations where the ops got bored of their spiel to the point that they dug up the official 'spiel card', announced what they were reading, and then read it with exaggerated gravitas. It was hilarious.

There is one Raptor girl who is so cool! I can't remember her name, but she says it so fast, with so much enthusiasm, everyone in the station claps for her every time she does it! I enjoy the Raptor spiel quite a bit, and if you don't know...No, I'm not gonna go through it today. It's fun to say though!

I guess I'm from Mars, but CP is the only park I've been to(and I've been to a few)where I can remember them announcing the ride states, including Dorney.

The funniest ride spiel I have heard is on Millennium Force. The OP in the unload station said "at this time please lift up your lap bar and undo your seat belt. If you are having trouble please try harder" My friend and I were cracking up.

A funny one I heard came for a Gemini Op. He said " Please stay seated at all times....if you want to stand up go ride Mantis."

At Kings Island, it was so boring just sitting there waiting to get on. I thought something was missing, and now I just realized that the spiel was the thing that was missing.

At least They know the facts. Two other large Ohio parks didn't know a steel coaster from a Cellular telephone.
