My annual CP trip was over a month ago (summer flies), but I had the best experience in years on Mantis.
I don't think there could have been a better crew. The trains were barely stacking at all, but most of all the ops were friendly. I have never seen those 6 ops in the station having so much fun. The guy on the mic had great spiels and then when a seat needed to be adjusted he would say the number in french, and in between trains would work on recalling the other french words he learned in high school. In the past it's the crew has always been like an army, with an attitude problem like no other. The crew this year was just plain having fun despite what a pain the ride is to load, and yet somehow they were able to get trains out.
Was I just there on a good day? Has this gone on all summer. Either way, props to the Mantis Crew!
I know when I was there early in season (either last day of May, or June 1st) that the Mantis crew was awesome that day. They performed just the same and kept a sense of humor on the platforms (and directed that humor in a kind way toward those not following rules, bouncing the seats, etc.) It was quite the experience.
We always tried to make it fun on Mantis, while being as safe and fastas possible. I definitely miss working on the "Manti" right now. I'm in class in Pittsburgh. somehow pushing buttons here on a keyboard just isn't the same as the Mantis control booth. But, hands down we had the best crew the big bad bug has ever seen. oh and our TL was awesome, too. she reads this stuff from time to time.

From my best recollection, I have to agree with the Mantis comments. The crew seemed to be having a fun time & that helps to put/keep the guests in a good mood. The most annoying announcer that my family came across, was the nice Polish lady at Gemini. OMG, I almost didn't ride it the 3rd time cause she drove me CRAZY!! She was nice, like I said before, but WOW!
When I went on Gemini the spieler said things like, "You won't go 93 mph, not 120 mph, but 60 MPH!" and "You'll go upside down not once, not twice, not three, six, or 8 times, but 0! That's right my friends, 0!" It was really enjoyable.

The Gemini crew also took a very long, hard seatbelt course at Harvard as well.
As for Mantis, as long as the crew isn't trying to get that little bicycle seat right up where it hurts, I don't really care. I've had good luck with the crew not messing with my seat both this year and last year.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Typically, if people just do what they're suppose to in terms of standing and what not, they won't bother you at all.

Is this the first time anyone's complimented the Mantis crew?
I mentioned them earlier in the year a few times because of a certain scenario where the guy on the mic asked the crowd where they were from, and some guy behind me yelled Alaska, so they had a humorous exchange about the ride op wanting to see ID and I got asked to check his ID (which obviously I didn't get it). I never thought to make a thread though.. =/ They definately deserve one though, both trips this year, Mantis crew was great.
so i take it that you guys were the ones that actually stood up the right way since you liked us. it seemed like the people that didn't like Mantis were also the ones that tried to hold their seats down at their knees.
my personal favorite, though, is the people that don't know that mantis is a stand-up. it doesn't matter that they've waited in line for an hour and a half or that they have heard at least five trains worth of spiels on the platform.
the best day to work the ride was definitely coastermania. everyone listened or already knew what to do. i got to BS with "my kind," and i must have been asked about the new coaster about 4,258 times. one lady rode mantis five times, three times while i was at the front of the train on the load side. she was about 70y/o 4'9", just a nice old lady in an ACE shirt and a poncho who was hell bent on finding out about the track next to breakers express.
anyway, sorry i went off track there, thank you guys for the good stuff you're saying about the mantis crew.
