Those who are hoping that Cedar Point will be the first park with a Thrust Air dont keep your hopes up. If screamscape is right, wich the usally are, Kings Dominion will be the first park with one. That will make three lauch coasters for Kings Dominion, and Cedar Point with 0! That sucks!

Patience. Besides height records, CP has never been the first for a new breed of coaster. But a launch is needed.

Yep... sounds like it's true for PKD. I'm going to call them this morning just to be sure.

Yeah, and if CP plans to get a launch coaster, I think it should be by either Intamin or S&S. Although something similar to the Hulk would be nice, it would kill two birds with one stone. A launch multi looper.

I don't care what kind of launch. Just that we get a launch coaster sometime. But, an S&S would be nice.

I care what kind of launch. I rode PKI's Outer Limits back in June for the first time. My ears were killing me when I got off. This ride really knocks you around...and I never complain on coasters. It's the same layout as those Joker's Jinx coasters, and I have heard a lot of people say that they are painful rides.

The Hulk sounds good to me!

B-Town, in about 9 months there will be 2. The one at S&S and one at PKD.

It was indeed announced this morning at a conference at 10AM that PKD will get the first Thrust Air.

At least that's what I'm reading all over the place...

Now can we kill the TA2K at CP stories?

No! We all know that CP doesn't get prototypes. Now that that's out of the way, CP's in the clear for one!

I'm glad PKD is getting the first Thrust TA2K. Now CP can take a look at it, see if they like it, and build one bigger and better. It's all good.

Geez, Bill...I never thought of that! How about we kill them for this year? Next year at this time, I'll be willing to consider CP getting one. Maybe the world's fastest tallest coaster? If you're a fan of all of those TLC and Discovery Channel shows, then you know S&S is dying to break 100mph and could easily go more than 310 feet with it. Plus we'd also shut up alot of the arguements about whether Superman is a coaster or not. It'd be irrelevant beacuse it wouldn't be the fastest anymore...

Maybe CP could even break 400 feet so we could end the tallest arguements too.

400 feet and 100+mph in 2002...let the rumors begin!

skip 400, the industry is going so fast now that CP should just go straight to 500 and claim 400 and 500 at the same time.

Here are the facts of a boring TA2K:
Track Length: 1,560 feet
Number of Passengers: 8 per cycle
Top Speed: 80 m.p.h.
Acceleration: 0 - 80 / 1.8 seconds!
Track Elevation: 165 feet
Tires and Guide Wheels: Pneumatic
Angle of Ascent: 90 degrees vertical
Angle of Descent: 90 degrees vertical

I was exspecting more, along with S&S and probly evry on else.

So basically they got the prototype with a few turns added. In the future they'll add more of a layout to it, I'd imagine. Which is one of the many reasons we should've been praying CP didn't get one of the first ones.

Why do I find this subject so interesting?

Slow day I guess. :( *** This post was edited by lordgonchar on 8/1/2000. ***

So as soon as CP gets anything taller and faster than S:TE it will automatically become a coaster, simply because it is at CP? Sounds like a double standard.

Soggy-

No, not a double standard at all. The arguement will be moot.

Right now most of the agruments stem from the fact that if S:TE were a coaster then it'd be the tallest fastest around. Once it no longer could hold that claim (assuming it were a coaster) the endless arguements on the subject would wane greatly.

Ummmm...Sorry, Soggy. But, in my opinion Thrust Air is more of a coaster than SupermanTE. And Im sure alot of other people think so too. (And NOT just "CP" people as you like to put it.)
