I had successfully dodged this ride all season so far no such luck during my latest trip. Was FORCED to ride (severe peer pressure) and did the drop side. Dont know what it is about PT that scares me so badly-but I did ride it (gripping for dear life and eyes shut the ENTIRE time)
and I did live!
Fun? yes
Terrified? yes
Will I do it again? we'll see!

Awww...now you have to do the space shot. I actually like that side better I think. The drop is cool too, but the space shot is so unlike anything else in the park.

Me 3. Sure I have rode both of them, but for some reason I just don't like being dangling in the air 240ft. off the ground. Then being shot at the ground at a speed between 45-50 mph.
Actually I will ride drop side again, but that is about the only ride in CP that intimidates me.

How many feet down does the Turbo Drop drop you?
P.S. - I must say... Turbo Drop is much scarier to me than Space Shot, and it's also pretty much the only ride in the park (or any ride like that at any other park) that scares me. Yet, I do it over and over.

Whenever I go to CP, I always go down on PT. But everytime, when we're stopped up at the top, it just feels like I shouldn't be up there. Which is cool, because the ride experience never gets boring. You are always occupied by looking at other rides and coasters from so high.

I've never been on turbo drop. However I have experienced space shot. What a rush! If you love air time there are at least 2 seconds when you hit the top.
I revisited Demon Drop last trip and forgot how special this ride is. The drop rekindled the gut wrenching feeling no other ride is able to give me. Afterwards, the Ride Op stated the Demon Drop has a quicker drop then Power Tower. Is there any validity to this statement? I haven't ridden the Turbo Drop yet but will give it a try next trip.

Power Tower does not put you into a true freefall... the speed of the ride is controlled and tops out just over 50 mph (according to CP's website).
Demon Drop is a true freefall ride... it drops straight down for 60 feet before it starts to pull out of the drop... not sure what the total drop distance is... the tower is 131 feet high but i'm not sure what height the car drops from or how close to the ground it gets...
assuming a drop distance of 100 feet and no friction, the top speed is just about 54.5 mph.
the 2 rides probably hit just about identical speeds ... the difference is that power tower gets you there faster and then holds you at that speed instead of letting gravity accelerate you in a true freefall.

I don't think my question has been answered. So I'll sort of re-word it.
How many feet is it from the highest point you're LIFTED on the Turbo Drop side of Power Tower to the point where you get off?

The tower is 305ft, but you only go up 240ft becouse the rest of the tower is the arch.

Since when in Power Tower 305 ft. tall? Last time I checked it was only 300, in the MF height comparison, however, the Statue of Liberty is 305 ft.

At last check, the apex of PT was 300 ft.
That reminds me, PT is the one ride I completely forgot on my visit at the end of June....doh! Hopefully our end of August trip still works out....
