Off Season Preidictions

Hey everyone. Before I begin, I'd like to point out that this is not a "crowds on X day" thread. Nor, is this a thread listing only my ideas. I want to hear everyone predictions and such. I hope I didn't start this topic too early or anything, but here I go!

1. With the immense pre-season crowds, do you think that the crowds will be high late in the year?

2. Will everyone still ride Millennium Force all the time, this year and forever?

3. When exactly do you think the off season will "begin".

4. Does anyone in the Fort Wayne area want to take me every day for the rest of the season?

Feel free to post more questions....

The crowds haven't been as immense as we think. Cedar Fair announced earnings below expectations due to low attendance. Go figure.

Hi,

Jeff is right, the crowds haven't been to bad. Saturdays of course are ALWAYS crowded, but you can visit CP any time of the week, and with some smart planning, good weather and just a little luck your day will be full.

What suprises me is the Soak City crowds. Even with the cool weather people are showing up.

I am curious as to how the other Cedar Fair parks are doing this year. My assumption is that attendance is down more at the other parks, more so than CP'S if ours is down at all.

it has a lot to do with the high gas prices and all the rainy weather we have been having.

It seems many parks are reporting less than expected attendance, which I find surprising, given the unbelievable economy (sure, gas prices are up, but I figured people would just go to their local parks more often). Come to think of it, attendance at movie theaters is down as well; same with Major League Baseball, train and air travel (slightly), several major concert tours are doing poorly or even been cancelled ... maybe everyone's staying home and watching Survivor or reading that crazy wizard book all the kids are into.

Funny, I took a long trip this year, to CP. Longest since Ocean City back in '93. I've also been to my home park 2 times this season. Seen a good bit of movies lately, too. (I must say, Me, Myself, & Irene was pretty funny indeed.) Also, went to my first ever concert back in early June.

And I don't like Survivor or those wizard books.

I guess this just reaffirms my status as the odd one.

I live around Fort Wayne, and I'd love to go to Cedar Point every day for the rest of the season...There's just one problem...I'm 15.

Well, clearly this post didn't go how I wanted it to. I guess Jeff is right, but weren't people always saying May had unusually large crowds? Obviously, people wanted to ride Millennium Force.

Anyways, I guess I'll just drop all but the fourth :) question and ask, when does the off-season begin? I remember when I came to GTTP point last year, really, that people were always getting on every without wait. That is what I want, someone plese just give me an estimate or something!

Avoiding crowds is not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. With the exception of Millennium Force and Raptor if you are waiting inline for anything longer than an hour there is something wrong. One of these days should I dare post my strategy?

(NewRideName) 77 with regard to your question about "when does the off season begin", Check the CP schedule of hours... The last 2 weeks of August CP is only open to 8p.m. on the week days (maybe just Monday thru Thursday). This is because the crowd levels do drop off. Most of the schools will start before Labor Day.
As for picking a day when you can "walk on": I am planning an adult trip to the Point for the week of August 28...park is only opened till 8, kids are back in school. This will probably be the best time of year to visit.

I go back the 21st so that's a pretty good strategy. Have fun! (I won't :()

Ok, thank you everyone for your help. Although, I still want to hear "Magnum is Sinking!" 's strategy....

I've got a trip planned for September 22nd because it works with my school schedule. So, hopefully, I'll see some of you there. I'm gonna be the kid with the bright green shirt, glasses, and braces. You really can't miss me....

I really havent noticed a decrease in attendance at all at other parks.I went to SFGadventure in June..busy..Ive been to Hershey three times so far and the crowd thins out after 7pm..Cedar Point was busy on a Monday in July with the lines being a min of 10mins max 4hours for Millennium Force.PKI every line was over an hour except Son Of Beast being over 2 and a half with one train running,and almost every ride at SFO being a walk-on except for Serial Thriller being over 1hour with one train running..I think we all know why SFO wasnt busy...lol
Oh btw..every attraction at Sea World a walk-on..lol

As for this, I visited yesterday (Tuesday) and had 1 hour waits for EVERYTHING. Is Tuesday a bad day. If so, what is a better day?
