Steel Venom 3D Model

I actualy made this awhile ago, but I was recently looking through some old folders and got back into it. Before, I hadn't intended to make Steel Venom. The colors where yellow and blue, with orange and teal, almost like Valleyfair!'s Steel Venom. But when I saw Tony and Tyler post that Demon Drop model, I decided to change the colors.

I modeled everything from hand, no simulators involved. I know the spiraling spike isn't heartlined, maybe I'll fix it. Also, I made this before the addtions to the towers where made, thus those aren't on there. I know I could add them, but I'm to lazy right now.

I'm curently working on an animation, we'll see how that goes. Don't exspect one anytime soon, it's alot of work.

Also, if anyone is interested, I used a freeware 3D software, called Anim8or. If any of you know what it's like to model with that, you can understand this takes alot of work.

Feel free to comment on it, I'll even take (resonable)
suguestions.

Also, don't attempt to go in the folders, because you won't find much of anything good.

Well thank you guys for the comment. I'm surprised this didn't attract more attention. Unfortunetly, just after I finished post this, my laptop screen's backlight died, and now I'm using a monitor, which makes my graphics card freakout when I open Anim8or. If I get it fixed, it won't be until August, when I get back to Texas. Thus, that means that there animation and tweaks in the ride won't happen until then.

Feel free, however, to post your thoughts.

Edit: I guess those graphic card problems were a "twice in a lifetime" problems, because now I'm back in business (half way until I get my screen fixed). So, I guess I'll continue working on it. This is better news, I wont work on it tomorrow, however. I've gotta date with a speed queen and tall blue. *** Edited 7/16/2006 3:49:50 AM UTC by Keith 2005*** *** Edited 7/16/2006 3:55:11 AM UTC by Keith 2005***

At first glance it looked a bit like Google SketchUp, but then I read your post. I may have to check out Anim8or and compare it with SketchUp. I may upgrade to SketchUp Pro in a few months.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

great job! but, i hate steel venom...bad experience with the brake malfunction on the straight back spike, in the very back row, thought i was going to die, we hit the bumper, and i hurt my back like no other. but, besides that, that is truly an awesome model!

Sure you hit the bumper? You know it purposely stops on the back spike.

Speaking of a malfunction, I was at the park on Sunday the 23rd and Steel Venom was stopped halfway down the launch. They had two or three tarps covering rows 3-8. Anybody know what happened?

The brake doesn't stop a train going up. It catches a train already there and holds it from going down. You didn't hit the bumper.

Tim, that is very unusal. No, I don't know what happened. However, I have seen the train stuck at the very end of the launch. I didn't see it happen, but I saw it there. Of course, the ride was then running 5 minutes later.

Oh, and guess what?

I heartlined it!

I still need to add the bumpers, but I'm currently working on another complimentery project.

Note: My server is down, thus if you try to click the link in the first post, it won't work. It should be up by mid-day late-day Tuesday.

Edit: I found out (always kind of knew it in the back of my mind) that Keith McVeen had a 3D model of Steel Venom:

I guess they're pretty simular. Anyways, if any of you think I'm Keith McVeen, I'm not. Just share the same first name. *** Edited 7/25/2006 6:23:37 AM UTC by Keith 2005***
