I was at the park on 7/10 and got my first TTD ride. Anyway I was in the station boarded the train and was ready to roll into launch position when the Ride op came on and said "Your lap bars will be coming up on purpose. I was on the Dark Purple Train. Why did this Happen.

Are you talking about in the station? If so, it's fairly common. It's usually because they have to redo someone's seatbelt or make sure it's buckled right.

Edit: And it is possible to edit your posts, to fix "Lab bar question" *** Edited 7/13/2006 1:40:48 AM UTC by Mikel30***

It is not only on Dragster. They so it they release the restraints on Wicked Twister and Millennium. This happens primarily because someone is not restrained properly.

I'm new too and my 1st TTD ride was opening day '06 and holy crap was I nervous! I couldn't remember if I liked it or not. I've been on 10x since and now I remember that I loved it!!! I hope to have a few rides tomorrow night at the Season Pass Holder ERT.

As has been mentioned by others already, the lap bar thing is routine so don't sweat it. Enjoy!!!

Oh I definetly did. I wish I lived closer to go more often. It's a 7 to 8 hour trip to Cedar Point from here to there so sadly it's not made often

They sometimes release them if someone chickens out and decides not to ride it at the last second. They usually tell you when they're releasing them so no one freaks out and thinks that they will start the ride with out locking the lap bars.

What is really odd about TTD, MF and WT is that they have to release all the lap bars. At my home park SF:DL we have SROS and when someone isn't buckled in right they can just release the one seat.

I find it odd because this ride is older than MF,TTD and WT.

I feel your pain. I live 8 hours away. I've been there once. Better than none. :)

MF was annouced to go 92mph, but on the day they clocked the speed, it hit 93mph.

I believe TTD went 124mph. *** Edited 7/13/2006 4:23:56 AM UTC by Gomez***

Very good question.

After the 2004 accident on Superman Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England, SF responded putting in new seatbelts as well as a second seatbelt to ensure the lapbar was down all the way. For the 2005 season, a computer system was added that allows each individual car to have it's restraints unlocked, much like Mantis. The computer screen shows which lapbars aren't down far enough, and won't allow the train to be dispatched until the lapbars are in a decent position.
