Why All the New Types of Coasters

OK, FYI: Raptor is my favorite ride in the whole world. And call me crazy, but my second favorite is Vortex at PKI. I don't know what it is about the Vortex that just gets me going. Maybe it's the fact that I hardly ever take the extra 2 hours to drive to Cincinatti than it takes to goto Cedar Point. Cedar Point is only the greatest park, but we already knew that. But anyways, Cedar Point is really lacking an oustanding sit-down looping rollercoaster. Oh nevermind, i forgot we have Corkscrew (the cause of CP's only safety screw-up in recent years). But seriously... I don't like being a traitor and having to goto another park everytime I want to do the loop-de-loop... Is it just that nobody likes these rides anymore? Are they not making them smooth enough for us spoiled riders? Sure enough, Arrow loopers are out... but hell there are so many companies, I mean look how Intamin has exploded with MF, and I think CP really accelerated Arrow and B&M's progress in the same fashion. I just don't understand why Cedar Point doesn't feel the need to complete the collection with an outstanding looping sit-down over-the-shoulder restraint coaster (with your feet on the floor, none of this floorless stuff...) Anybody care to elaborate so that I may rest...
CP will respond to the need in time. You are right, Arrow loopers are out. Since MF is so smooth, I would really like to see what Intamin can do with a mega-looper. Who knows, maybe it is in the works.

It's funny, I used to think that the Corkscrew was an incredible looper. But a few weeks ago a buddy of mine and myself were standing in line for Power Tower and we couldn't help but notice how small the hill was on Corkscrew. I seemed as though the people in the front car were at the bottom of the hill by the time it picked up any speed. I hate to rip on it because it is an original, but it is time for a change.

I think an Intamin or B&M sit-down looper sounds good but I don't see what's wrong with a floorless, I mean Kraken is incredible and very smooth!

Personally the floorless is a gimik unless you are in the front seat. Yes Kraken is incredible, but unless you look at the track the entire ride you never know your on a floorless. IMO a floored B&M or Intamin would be the way to go if CP went in that direction! Hopefully they will in the near future!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?" (as stated by my best-friends about CP)
I would LOVE a B&M sit-down, but I'd rather have an Intamin. It's a more original idea, and if I'm correct, Monte Makaya is the only one like that. Plus, I can't see Cedar Point doing anything with B&M anymore. B&M has become too common, and Cedar Point doesn't like common. Plus, after Millennium Force, I think it's safe to say that Intamin and CP have developed a pretty nice relationship.
I also still like riding mega-Arrow loopers (Vortex, Steel Phantom, etc.). The one thing I don’t like about B&M coasters is the four across seating. I would love to see Intamin design a mega-looper for CP with cars that feel as open and comfortable as on MF.
B&M are very common, plus Cedar Point has 2 roller coasters by them already. I am lovin Intamin. It is smooth beyond my imagination. But to loop wouldn't they have to make the seats differently? A post was made about how when the train leaves the station it comes rather close to the train behind it when going up the lift. Who knows.

Intamin is not just smooth, but "silent', which is a big plus. Maybe Intamin is developing it's own stand-up, floorless, and inverted coasters. That would be awesome. Smooth as glass, silent, and exciting.
My money is on a S&S air thrust looper. CP has something against LIM. and we all know there are too many B&M and Arrow loopers around. They liked Power Tower enough to build one in every park they own. It would fill two needs with one coaster.

Does B&M even make sit downs now that they have the floorless?
If you got the money...They will make what ever you want!

Does Intamin only have a repetoire of hyper/giga coasters? I have not ridden MF yet, but will on tuesday... I'm very interested to see how it's smoothness compares to the unbelievable smoothness of my beloved raptor... If they (Intamin)can top out B&M's smooth coasters that I love, they got something special going. Also, would Intamin take a different approach to the track layout with a looper? Does anybody know of any loopers they have built and have pictures?
by track layout, i mean track design, you know, how they only have the two tube structure?
Actually Intamin does inverteds already, sorta. Superman Ultimate Escape, Linear Gale, Volcano...

They were talking about regular roller coasters with inversions, not inverted roller coasters.
HyperSeanman, you may not believe me, but MF is smooth as glass-really! To put it into perspective, think about Mean Streak vs. Raptor. Mean Streak is WAAAY rougher than Raptor.

BUT, in this perspective, Raptor vs. MF, Raptor is as rough as Mean Streak in the other perspective.

I hope that made sense, but on Tuesday, you'll know what I mean anyway.
I find that VERY hard to believe, but you're probably right :) Well how does an Arrow high speed coaster like Magnum compare to Intamin's smoothness on MF or other coaseters?
There are no bumps at all on MF! Rough would be never come out of my mouth after riding!!! Infact, MF is so smooth that Magnum seemed pretty rough after riding it! (Magnum is pretty smooth to me too!)

If you don't believe us when we tell you that MF is smooth, then that is your problem... Solution: GO RIDE MF!!!! :)
RPerz, I was specifically replying to CP_bound's comment about "Maybe Intamin is developing its own stand-up, floorless, and inverted coasters", pointing out that they DO build inverted coasters already...
