Hotels for 19 year-olds

I am 23 and my girlfriend is 19 and we tried to get a room at the Breakers Hotel. I called and they asked if anyone was under 21, I said that one person is 19. They said that anyone under 21 has to be acompanied by a parent or legal guardian. And they do check I.D.'s.

So my question is, suppose I make reservations and when we get there she stays in the car and I check in and say I'm the only one staying. Would that be a bad idea? Do you think it would work?

I've never been carded, and I've always checked in sans Steph (who is 25 anyway). Never been asked who the other people were.

It seems other individuals have had the problem I use to have...I know that CP beakers require everyone in the room to be over 21 unless they stay with a parent or husband/wife. It fankly is quite a dumb rule, but you can stay at the Radisson Inn also owned by them and operated. I have stayed at the Days Inn, Best Western, Quality Inn and the Radisson...and that was before I turned 21. So Good luck in finding a room, but if you do your homework you should not have a problem.....

I asked thi a while back and got some interesting responeses on what to do. But I leave tomorrow and I'm staying at the Best Western near the park. They will rent to you supposedly (I'll be pissed if they say no when I get there), you can have your parents call as it says they provide "first hand info to parents about policies concerning those under 21". I had some friends go to CP the Monday of this week and none of them were over 17, or 18. And they stayed a night at Breakers Express...is CP breaking the law...uh oh!..

Here are the things I always did.

First and foremost I would have my mom call and get me the room and explain that she won't be there and every time I got a room that way.

The second major thing I did was when I would call and make reservations I would always tell them that I was 21 if they asked. Most of the places I went had you fill out a card. On the card it would ask for your Driver's Lisence number, well I just memorized the number so they wouldn't see my ID. I was never carded at all.

It worked out for me the hotel didn't ask for ID.

Actually, I work at a hotel, even worked in Cedar Point resorts for 5 summers. Ohio law states that to stay in a hotel, you must be 18 years of age with a valid drivers license. Cedar Point, like most hotels prefer that you are 21 to save them on liability issues. All you nedd to do to stay at the Cedar Point Resorts is what Dan did. I never checked ID unless it was just plain obvious that they werent 21.

My wife asked about this at the Holiday Inn front desk when we were at CP a couple of weeks ago, as our son is turning twenty, and he's looking to get "the gang" together for a trip, sans-parents.

The front desk employee claimed the HI would, in fact, rent to those over 18, but under 21, but would require a damage deposit at sign-in.

I think the attitude towards under-21 guests often reflects the area. Sandusky and CP want to highlight family values, so many hotels would rather not have teenagers on their own in their establishments. College towns, however, seem to be far more open to renting hotel rooms to younger people, as that group is a huge part of their business.
