Fastest Speed on Dragster

I have read 130 also. Personal experience. Non-Rider Reported. It was cool talking a radar gun. When we went through, security gave us a demeaning look, but we told him what it was for. It is really neat seeing how fast certan coasters go at different points. Millennium Clocked in at 103 after her 310 one time. *** Edited 5/27/2004 12:04:36 AM UTC by cedarpointlover***

So you took a radar gun into CP? So, if MF has a range of 10 mph, I would be surprised about some other coasters speed...

pointlover: I suppose you also weighed 160 one time on the guessing game, and 180 the next time too?

Assuming you actually brought a radar gun into the park and you're not completely lying, you might want to get a refund for the gun. I'm pretty sure gravity is constant even in the wonderful world of Cedar Point, meaning a 10% margin of speed from a constant speed lift hill is quite questionable, regardless of any other conditions, except maybe an 80 mph tailwind. *** Edited 5/27/2004 2:35:53 AM UTC by mantis_man***

Don't those radar guns also have like a +/- 5 mph or so on them, or something like that? (Like if a train was moving, say, 93 mph, it could read anywhere between 88 mph and 98 mph) I'm not sure where I remember hearing that, so I might be wrong.

Now that I think about it, I don't know how Cedar Point would ever allow you to bring a radar gun into the park. It's just so ridiculous. The employees at the gate would have definately got management, didn't they? I am almost positive that they would not allow you to bring it in, or at least if I'm put into the manager's position, I wouldn't have allowed you to, but I am not a manager. I think age would be a huge determiner, for the situation. If a teenager is trying to bring it in, I don't think you would be allowed. But, and older folk, would probably been able to bring it in, with a good explanation...

You've GOT to be kidding me.

The average human body can withstand short bursts of 13 - 13.5 g's. A human passes out at about 5 - 7 g's. If you are suggesting you will pull 8.5 - 5.5 g's from 10MPH when it doesn't pull 7 g's from going 120 in 4 seconds ... (you OBVIOUSLY don't black out from going that fast in that short amount of time)

I'm not even going to say anything about that... in any case, do the math... you will see it's impossible.

(Yea ... Physics I ... interesting little snippets from that class.)

(TTD is ... surprising when you're a new employee and you're not expecting it to come wizzing by your head. That's most likely why they jumped...) *** Edited 6/1/2004 5:23:51 AM UTC by Ben Englund***

I am new to Point Buzz but not to Cedar Point i love the site and it beats coaster buzz just because of the name.

Any way, i have seen up to 125 but never any were close to 130 so i will have to see a picture before i will believe that.

remember it was a morning test and it was raining/sprinkling.

While you are on the ride in front on right side seat you can read what you went, last year i got up to 126, and I had a rollback it was Awesome.

The ride auto-matically adjusts acording to the last launch. Thats why you see higher speeds but it barely makes it over...its called upper level winds. We've been over this before :P Anyways...I talked to a CP person at DT and they said MF has hit 97 MPH before.

No, MF has not ever hit 97. We've been over the physics of that many, many times before.

Fastest speed I ever saw was 126mph and it cleared no problem.

Can't wait for 07 season!

Anyone have a link to that thread or something?

Look here.

Take Bill's number, because Jmstuckman incorrectly calculated for a 310-foot drop, when the drop itself is only about 300 feet. That means, ignoring friction and air resistance, the maximum theoretical speed is about 96 mph. In practice it tends to max out around 93.
