Emergency Escape

Looking at the Force on Sunday, I noticed how the stairs are only at the top of this thing and don't extend downwards toward the station. Does anyone know exactly how this thing works if they needed to evacuate guests on a stuck train?

Yes they have a service car that moves up the side of the track (Like on the Raptor)that would be used to get the passengers out in case of a emergency! It said that on the construction diary on the CP website!

Does the service car work if the power goes out?

I have a few friends who will be working on the Force this year. One of them was already working on it this past weekend and we started talking about the service car. He said that the regular ride ops aren't allowed to go up in the car, only park maintenance and park managers can go up.

The service car would have to have either backup power via a generator, or, if it's like the car on Raptor, have it's own gasoline motor with a cog railway track to power itself up the hill.

If you get stuck at the top they should just pass out parachutes!!! (Heh!Heh!)

Base jumping off the Grand Canyon is one thing, but base jumping from only 310 feet up is quite another. Man, Chitown, you've got guts (or an extreme faith in air pressure)!;)

So what are your thoughts on the engineering of this monster purdue university engineer.

Actually Bill, at that height you better be jumping with a chute that's already open. (Considering the average chute takes about 1.5 seconds to get out of the pack and at least another 2-3 seconds to fill with air.) If you were to just walk off the top of MF you'd hit the ground in just over 3 seconds. So basically, an unopenned chute from MFs height will do you no good.

Hooper, I'll wait to ride it before I analyze/critique its engineering; but something tells me I won't be disappointed.
