Hotels for 19 year-olds

Does anyone know of any hotels close to Cedar Point that will accomadate 19 year-old?

I would like to know the same thing. I have a credit card and everything.

No,it is against state law to sell a hotel room to anyone under 21 years of age. If they do it, they risk losing their license. It is sort of similar to the drinking age law,absolutely no exceptions. I have no idea why this is the law,have been around the industry for a few years now.

Its against the law? Man, I thought Illinois laws were crazy. I thought it was just policy for certain hotels and motels. Speaking from experience if you call the hotel in advance and make a reservation with a credit card they usually wont have a problem because they wont know your age. When you get to the hotel they will usually just make you fill out a form and hand you the key. Take it for what its worth because this is based on experience in Illinois.

I don't think it's against the law, it's only their preference not to rent below 21 so they don't harbor underage consumption. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an insurance thing.

I stayed somewhere last year one day, hmm, lemme think, it was on 250 somewhere....ugh I can't remember, I'll probably just roam around trying to find a room somewhere on Sat. night.

Maybe we'll sleep in my car in Meijer's parking lot lol

Like Jeff says, this cant be a law. It is solely up to the hotel or motel to enforce this. If you are at least 18 you should be able to find something, especially if you have a credit card.

Suggest you leave 'GuidetothePoint' for a few minutes and check out Google or Dogpile...Amazing what one can do with a good search engine and a telephone to ask a few questions.

It is a State of Ohio Regulation-Law,whatever. There are no hotels that rent to under 21 year olds legally, call a few around you and tell them you are 18 or 19 and see what they say, if they rent you a room, they will be fined.

Of course, you don't have to tell them you are 18, if they even ask, and unless you look like a kid,I have never been asked for ID checking into a hotel...

I just looked through the relavent sections of the Ohio Revised Code and could not find any language prohibiting the rental of a room to anyone under 21. If it's there, I'd like to see it, because I rented more than my share of rooms in college.

While I doubt that it's a law, I do recall trying to make a reservation at the Breakers when I was 19 (of course, this was way back in 1982) and they told me that their POLICY was that whomever rents the room must be 21.

So, we made it a 22-hour road trip from Pittsburgh (got there at opening and left after close). As I recall, buying beer was no problem at the Patio - and no, I didn't get drunk and drive home - I had one with pizza.

a few years back when i tried getting a campsite at a campgound rite outside of cedarpoit they checked my i.d to make sure i was at least 21.

Its all based on policy. Not law. There is no concrete reason to make this a law.

I work at a hotel and I check in kids that are not 21 all the time!! I'm not supposed to, but the only time we are supposed to check is when there is an event in the area that could lead to a lot of underage consumption in the hotel. So my advice to you, CP genius, is to have your parents make the reservation, never mention that you're under 21, and hope for the best. Also, when you check in, go towards the person at the desk that looks the closest to your age...

i booked a suite for opening weekend at the breakers and on the back of my convermation paper it says that no one under 20 may rent a room,not 21.

I just booked a room at Travelodge in Sandusky for Saturday night. I'm 19 and I specifically asked if that was okay and they said it was 18 at that Travelodge. The web address is http://www.rutahotels.com and the toll free number is 1-800-578-7878. The rates are pretty decent (With a AAA discount I'm paying $52.20 before tax).

I suggest maybe giving them a call. They're going to try to get you to buy one of their membership cards, just either pretend your phone disconnected when they transfer you or politely turn them down.

Seems that what was a state law at one time isn't anymore. It did used to be however but I guess times have changed since the late 80's/early 90's.

I'm sure you 18 year olds will complain about car rental policies next right? :)I hated that one when I was 23 and wanted to rent a minivan to drive on vacation with 5 people instead of a Grand Am.

Nah I have a car, I don't care about car rental policies. :o)

I'm 19, anyway, gonna be 20 in October. Can't friggin wait.

I'm 19 and I have reserved a room at the Rodeway Inn for the weekend of June 2nd. I have not recieved any problems with it so far. I reserved it online also. And since I am visiting CP by myself(friends came up with an excuse), there should be no problems with the hotel receptionists.
