Before the park opens, the the cars on the tower rides at CP are in the middle of the tower. Why?

If you're talking about the Space Spiral it is because there is a counter-weight inside the tower. The ride is at rest in the middle as both the cabin and counter-weight are in the same position.

Try using the search feature when you have questions like this-more than likely you will find an answer and will avoid bringing up a topic that has been discussed previously.

It's neat to watch a maintanance guy ride the turbo drop to the top and climb up onto the tower in the morning. It's not exactly something I'd be comfortable doing.

It probably beats climbing a ladder all the way up there though.

The carts are kept halfway up in order to minimize the range of motion of the cables. The less the cables bang against the structure, the longer service life they will have.

Hey Andrew, thanks for the kind words, but...genius....um, yeah, no....mechanical enginerd who had the opportunity to analyze and play with really big machines for 6 months...yes.

Do you remember all the data I collected on Power Tower to determine S&S's shot pressure algorithms? Not to mention all the time studies I did for every ride I worked (all 12 rides...yay for being a Dragster crew member in June). Was that a sign of OCD....maybe....but god I had a fieldday in that park.

As for the signature, please don't take offense, I love my Power Tower peeps like there's no tommorow. However, I wasn't about to list all 12 rides that I worked, so I put the one that I was originally contracted to, and worked the longest.

LOL! Yes I remember all of that data collecting you did. And it's all good about the signature, I just thought i'd tease you a little bit. Man do I hope this thing doesn't double post again. Anyway man I dont' know if you're coming back this year or not, but if you got a job congrats. I know you had been searching pretty hard the last time I talked to you.

Help! I can't bring myself to get on Power Tower and Demon Drop!

Remember, you cannot divide by zero. Did you know that .9 repeating equals 1? How about that you can reach infinity in an instant with series? I'm such a geek (and I'm proud!)

Demon Drop sucks but Power Tower kicks but (being droped is the best). I wouldn't get on it for 3 years cause it isn't my idea of a coaster. My cousin made me get on a few years ago and now I can't get enough. If you don't wan't the suspense of the whole thing then choose to be shoot up. But being droped is soooo much better and it last longer cause you hang there for a sec. So just do it!!

physicsoncoasters- If you're serious, find someone to ride with you. Like a support group. My wife drags me on these towers all the time and I'm always terrified but its an adrenaline rush. She finds them relaxing, believe it or not.

But then again, what do I know?

CpGirl, please don't diss the Demon Drop. Yeah, it may be short and comparitively outdated to the Power Tower. However, it is still so much fun! When the car drops, it always catches me by suprise, I can never count the exact moment when it releases. Don't get me wrong, the Power Tower is great, but come on. The Demon Drop is an oldie but a goodie. :)

True. I wouldn't trade Demon Drop for anything else. It's usually the first ride we ride and the last.

I don't mean to diss the Demon Drop, you should at least try it once as with any ride. It is a great walk on ride and you get a great thrill from the drop. My only problem with the Demon Drop is the end of the drop and when it is taking you back. It has gotten so rough that it both kills the back and it staples you in so bad you feel like you can't breath. I think I even lost some change from my pocket the last time I rode it. I can just picture ppl under the ride with flashlights after the park closes looking for money. :)

Cleaning out the change underneath the station is a nightly event for the employees. Let me tell you, crawling around underneath that station and all of the machinery under there is quite a test of your flexibility. At least all of your lost change is going to a good cause, though.

I rode Demon Drop for the first time last year. DW Tower of Terror scared me of drop rides a few years ago. There is no way in hell I would EVER get on Power Tower.

I like my coasters just fine, thank you.

Well there's a difference in those rides so you should give PT a try. Both Demon Drop and Tower Of Terror are free falls (I believe). I know for a fact that DD is but Power Tower is a controlled fall. You should give it a try... it's really not that bad. But i'm sure you've been told that alot lol.
