Broken Nose?

I heard that one of the workers who was given a ride on MF had broken his nose at the bottom of the first hill. I guess the force was too great for him to keep his head up and his face hit the the back of the seat in front of him. Supposedly, CP officials are hush hush about the incident. Has anyone else heard any more details about this?

Yeah and I bet he is in the hospital right next to the guy who lost his arm in the tunnel! Sorry couldn't resist. I am sure it is jsut a rumor.

My uncle is a construction worker on the MF site. He does not want his name here. I guess Monty Jasper saw what happened and does not want the public to find out. Apparently, they may have to slow down the ride a bit. I seem to recall the same thing happening when Magnum first opened. Does anyone remember this?

Does everyone have someone related to someone involved in the construction of this ride? If so i feel left out

If they don't want the public to find out, then why do you feel it is your responsibility to let everyone know? If this is a true account, and for now we don't know, do you think you are helping or hurting the ride? Besides, if the ride would have to be slowed down, there will still be a hoard of people waiting to get on.

I agree with Scooter, if this really happened the news would probably be all over the situation, too. But even if the ride is slowed down, I don't think it'll make it any less fun or keep the lines down.

Well, first off I am stating that I have not seen the cars in person.
But maybe some who has like Jeff or Dan could tell us if this is at all possible. From looking at the construction pictures of the cars, it looks like it may be too far from where the back sits to be able to hit your face on the seat in front of you.

I doubt it is true and that would suck slowing the speed down. Let us take a look at this ride lets see 310 ft high, 92MPH not a ride for the kids. That why they got camp snoopy. they always have to change the ride. leave it the way it is. :) Unless there is some serious and I mean serious injury. They always gotta put trims in cause people complain. Then stay off it.

I don't think it's even a likely injury. It is true that if you are leaning forward at the bottom of the first drop there is a chance that you could be sucked downward, which could make it possible to strike your face on the grab bar, lap bar, or lap bar support. But it is unlikely.

That said, if it were to be a problem, the solution is not to slow down the train; in fact, slowing the train on the first drop would create new problems elsewhere on the course. But the solution has been employed elsewhere at Cedar Point, and will be in place on Son of Beast at Kings Island. It's a simple solution; to see what I am talking about, take a look at Snake River Falls...

On my way home from my Aunt's tonight after eating waaaay too much ham, I happened to be speeding down one of Pittsburgh's humongous hills that might as well be 80 degrees --they're so steep. I theorize that most of the weight of the ham I ate, traveled to my foot, therefore, causing my ham-heavy foot to slowly slide onto the pedal further. By the time I reached the bottom of this huge hill, I happened to be going 92 miles an hour! "Oh my--this is just like MF!" When my car leveled out at the bottom of the hill, the force was too great, pushing my nose into the steering wheel somehow since this event would be TOTALLY AGAINST THE LAWS OF PHYSICS. I went to the hospital, and they said I had broken my nose. I couldn't believe that, though, because if my nose was broken, my uncle who knows everything would've certainly told me. I guess he ate too much ham, though...

JB, welcome to the forum. You've made your statement, but unfortunately, you're now going to have to gain some credibility. If you're gonna post something like this, think about it for a minute. Physics states that the only time you're body would actually lurch forward like the way you described is if their were a sudden opposite force opposing direction of travel--like when the ride operators on Mantis stack trains, ;)

JB, that storie is just, umm, dumb, and unbeliveable. The G's would push back on you as you go down the hill and when you pull out of the drop, AND basicly almost everywere else on the ride, except maybe on the top of a hill, but then its negative G's which force you up out of your seat. Like DaveRKoch said, its "TOTALLY AGAINST THE LAWS OF PHYSICS.", and DaveTkoch, I know how it is eating to much ham, lol....MMMMM....Honeybaked....mm.....oh...lol..
