V.I.P. passes

I noticed on opening day that a number of people had V.I.P. passes stringed around their neck. Perhaps I wouldn't have noticed or minded so much if not everyone that seemed to have one were being escorted to the front of the line on Dragster. How and where did these people get these?

It was also for the Pepsi promo "VIP First to Ride". I was one of them who was lucky enough to score them from the local radio station. However, we were not escorted to the front of the line. We were let in the park at 8 to ride Dragster before the public was let in.

Are these the same people that paid money to be among the first 96 riders, or was that a different auction altogether? I talked to one girl that had one of these and she said that she got the pass from her boss, but didn't know where her boss got it from.
