Iron Dragon Question

Okay I know it's not the best ride--but I'm trying to convince my husband who suffers from coasteritis--I forced him on the magnum,he didnt talk to me almost the rest of the day--to ride the dragon but he wants to know if it goes upside down--I cant remember.

The iron dragon doesn't go upside down, it just sways side to side! It is a good ride for people who aren't very fond of rollercoasters! It's alot of fun!!! :) *** This post was edited by Soccer05 on 4/17/2000. ***

Yea I would say that he should be able to go on the Iron Dragon. What I would do is gradually put him on larger and larger coasters. That seems to work with people who are afraid of heights. When I was afraid of coasters a while back thats what my parents did to me and I was riding the Magnum within only two days. Sometimes you just have to force a person on a ride to see if they like it. Just tell them that if they don't like it you wont ride it again with them and most of the time you will find that they will have a great time on it.

yeah! I love coasters but can't stand spin 'n' pukes. My friend forced me on the Tilt-a-whirl at Camp Snoopy. Never again!

Millennium Force...taking thrills to new heights!

The Iron Dragon was the first of the "Big Coasters" I ever rode. It is a good way to work up your confidence for the more intense rides. My mother is not fond of coasters but we did manage to get her on Mine Ride once and she was pretty ok. We then convinced her to try Iron Dragon. I didn't think it would bother her but guess who didn't talk to me the rest of the day!

I ride the Iron Dragon after a large dinner to get my stomach back into the swing of coasters. I could eat dinner on it in fact,I usually shut my eyes on hot days and enjoy the cool breeze. It is not at all a threatening ride, I liken it to the skyride for fear factor.

My Father also suffers from coasteritis, but he really enjoys the Iron Dragon. I do usually recommend that he stay away from the back seat as it is much more of an intense experience back there.

Heh, I do the same thing as Rob (ride Iron Dragon after eating). I find the Iron Dragon to be fun, but actually somewhat SOOTHING relatively speaking. :)

I agree, it is a pleasant ride but I know a few people who find it very uncomfortable because it really hurts their back. I guess for some the combination of the shape of the seat with the hard (no pads) fiberglass is painful.

Iron Dragon was my very first coaster, and I was afraid of coasters until I rode it. Now I'm not, so good luck!

I have a boyfriend who tries to act "cool and macho" while I am dragging him on all the coasters at CP-
he gets sick quite often
then he goes and lays down in the car
while I ride til the park closes
(last year he got sick on Raptor-so I said "lets go ride Mantis and see how that makes you feel"
well-Mantis did him in-off to the car he went)

However he does tolerate Iron Dragon fairly well.

My Aunt has coasteritis also but for some reason Iron dragon and Raptor!!!!!!!! Doesn't bother her!

Iron Dragon is a nice starting coaster. I also know of people who didn't like the very big coasters, like Magnum, and after Raptor, loved all coasters :)

My girlfriend and I went to the park 2 years ago, and she was trying to be cool and stuff, and we went on Mantis first...she nearly passed out ON BOARD. She was pale and shaking when we got off. When we went on Raptor later, and she nearly chucked it up, I stopped making her go on any more. (Power Tower, Magnum, and Mean Streak were left to me alone). She did like Gemini OK, and the Iron Dragon was just fine for her. ID is a good starting ride.

Thanks everyone for all of your advice. I told my husband what you suggested and at least he is willing--who knows maybe one day he will ride the millenium(probably when the next millenium comes around :) )

I know that feeling Luv, after riding chaos, I had the worse headache and laid in the car for hours! Use to be able to do these rides all day long as a kid, but as an adult, cant do the intense flipping upside down anymore! But as for the ? asked, Iron Dragon is a mellow coaster, dont really know anyone who has lost their stomach on it, and that seems to be dc's husband fear of coasters, I was once there, but tell your husband rest assured, he will have no problem with that one. Was my daughters first coaster too!
