I really don't think that Live E gets the recognition it deserves. Yeah, it scores awards at IAAPA, but I don't think the general public really appreciates how good the talent typically is at CP. The only places I've been where it comes close is Busch Williamsburg and some of the Disney shows.

My dream is to work Disney entertainment full-time, but I agree. Cedar Point entertainment is excellent. When I was younger and didn't go on the larger rides, I'd spend the better part of the day at the shows with my grandparents. I knew I had to do it too. :)

.. and when you compare the budgets that Disney puts into thier shows to that of Cedar Point, the shows stand out even more. Living proof that more isn't always better. It takes good talent.

When I was Young and Irresponsible, I stuck to the coasters and ignored Live-E. Now that I have kids, we've seen a few of the shows, and they are excellent.

Part of the lack of recognition may stem from the image the park has with most guests--it is a thrill park first, and other considerations are secondary.

In past years I really haven't had time to check out the Live E shows because I was in a group of friends that would rather ride the rides. This year, I'll have more time in the park to myself so I'm going to check them all out.

Can Disney and CP really be compared show wise? Disney goes all out with the fireworks and elaborate porps. You are immersed into a disney show. On the otherhand just about anyone can run around nodding a masked head along with pre-taped music/speech. I know I can't sing... and It's amazing to hear a lot of the people at CP. So I think it's more of a show of talent(cp) .vs. extravegance(disney). On a side note, my favorite show is the guy that has done the "tell tale heart" every halloweekend. He does a great job on a poem which is not easily performed. (I Don't believe he would be considered part of Live E though)

Well, Disney does have a few live shows with singing and dancing and so forth, but yes, Cedar Point is a sort of whole different category. You can't really compare the two in any ways.

Fireworks and elaborate props take no skill from the performers. CP has an outstanding group of young performers every year that make the shows what they are, elaborate props just aren't needed.

You can't exactly compare to Disney, but it's like comparing an arena rock concert to a show in a small club. I for one prefer the club shows, which is perhaps why I've really enjoyed the shows at Red Garter the last few years (attractive performers have nothing to do with it, I swear ;)).

Maybe it's just the "theater fag" (as they called us in college) still left in me, but I enjoy a good show. I like musicals and I'm obsessed with hair too. It's a wonder I turned out straight!

I was really impressed with the Tell Tale Heart guy as well. That was my favorite part of Halloweekends. (sure Frightzone was fun) But the actor was really good! Even my friend who doesn't like plays and or shows really liked that show!

I have no obsession with hair (spoken from a balding guy) but I do like a good show. I will agree without a second thought that the Cedar Point shows are right up there with the best of them.

Disney, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Dollywood (even though I am not a huge country fan) have all impressed me with their shows. Unfortunately, Cedar Point shows are quite literally overshadowed by the midway monsters but I agree that they should be on everyone's "To Do" list.

I have often thought that they could build a nice theater back in the resort area and do an upcharge nighttime show for the resort guests. I think there would be a market for it.

Dollywood... funny you mention that..

If you head down there.. rumor is you may catch a rather talented CP alum from the Garter.. ;)

(attractive performers have nothing to do with it, I swear ).

That reminded me of my younger days. My cousin and I had very short almost shaved heads and we would go to lusty lil's early to get a seat close to the stage. The girls would always come down and rub our heads we thought we were so cool. Makes me wish I was younger again (ahhh, hormones). Maybe not.
